Please can somebody explain the hype?

I have friends (I am 50) who were seriously sad when they didn't get concert tickets (not in UK) and others who did, who were practically celebrating.

I don't get it. Don't want to ask for fear of looking like a twit.

For context, I have a 16yo DD and she just rolls her eyes and says wouldn't be caught dead at a TS concert. So no help there.

She writes her own songs, has excellent values, is very smart and genuinely is kind and a decent person. So different from all the Kardashian's and fake people out there at the moment - I'm hoping my daughter grows up to appreciate someone like Taylor swift

I sort of get what the OP means in that I don't really understand why she's so much of a bigger superstar than anyone else. I don't mind her songs, have very little opinion on her personality but I find it interesting that there's a cult around her that's sort of been a slow burner. It's not a criticism of anyone who likes her at all. I just am intrigued by it!

I couldn't name a single song of hers but am really hoping she runs for president this year.

I'm a Swiftie of old, I've been to see her twice and knew pretty much every song, however I haven't bought an album since 1989 because her newer songs just don't appeal to me.

People used to make fun of me for being a Taylor Swift fan, now I don't understand the people who are paying through the nose to see her because it's not my kind of music anymore. She was always really successful and well known but it's like another level now.

I don't understand the hype around her , but ' shake it off 'is a cracking pop song! She definitely seems a marmite type of person and I'd like to think she does write her own songs!
Her new beau was being interviewed the other day and I was surprised how nice he seems to be , id never heard of him before.

What makes the shows so amazing?

I like her music. It's good music. I am just trying to understand why some of my friends were almost in tears missing out.

There seems to be a huge care factor and I have been wondering why.

She absolutely does write her own songs, and has been doing so since she was 14 - it's the reason she's able to rerecord the albums that were sold out from under her, and not allow the use of any of the original recordings.

Her blooming friendship with Brittany Mahomes puts a question mark on her "excellent values" spin. Nobody's perfect I guess.

My Dd is a huge fan and we have paid for tickets in 2 venues for this year’s tour for DD and her pal
