I've lost my phone in the house and spent at least 6 solid hours looking ... and I still can't find it!!

Just starting to panic now as obviously I need it for work ... and all my photos and contacts Sad. I hate myself for this. I'm always losing things but I've never lost my phone for over 24 hours now. It's already causing me lots of inconvenience.

Where the hell is it? I know I had it yesterday morning. It was charging by my bed. I might have left it in the bedroom or brought it downstairs with me ... it was my day off work so I spent the morning pottering about, generally tidying and putting things away. Then I had a shower. Then I went to check my phone at about lunch time ... and it's gone somewhere and I haven't seen it since.

FFS. FML. etc.

Or the cat has stolen it.

Ecstaticmotion · 10/02/2024 09:39

Have you checked the pockets of anything you were wearing the morning you lost it? Dressing gown, pjs, clothes etc?

I'm guessing you’ve lifted the mattress up and checked under it and beneath the bed fully already.

and sorry to suggest this but is it at all plausible someone came in and took it? Is anything else valuable missing?

GettingBetter2024 · 10/02/2024 09:39

Any luck this morning OP?

Mammma91 · 10/02/2024 09:40

Silly question but have you got someone to phone it? I cannot tell you how many times my DH has lost his bloody phone in the house - it’s both his personal and business phone at the moment as his business phone broke - my house falls dead silent as we crawl about the rooms listening for the vibration!

OldTinHat · 10/02/2024 09:41

Has it fallen behind a radiator? Happened to me last weekend!

Minikievs · 10/02/2024 09:43

This isn't any help if you haven't got one, but I use the "ping" on my apple watch to find my phone MULTIPLE times a day 🤦🏼‍♀️

norasand · 09/02/2024 17:57

Yes. Brilliant piece of kit - also enables my phone to find my keys regularly

I bought a key finder (firstly as DS was forever loosing the garage keys) of Amazon for £20

You get four finders in the kit so now have one on my phone another set of keys AND my glasses

Is it the same colour as any surfaces? My phone case is black and so are my kitchen counters. I've lost count of the number of times I've lost my phone and it turns out to be right in front of me, but camouflaged.

My phone case is purple, I lost it in a purple hotel, thought I'd left it in the restaurant. It was on that flippin silly piece of fabric on the bed

Same! Nightmare when I'm charging watch and have no ping option.

MadeForThis · 10/02/2024 10:13

Were you putting away clothes? Could it be in a clothes/towels cupboard?

FinallyHere · 10/02/2024 10:18

Sorry you are still looking. I too spend a significant part of my life looking for things and have 'tile' Worth investigating when you do finally find it

https://uk.tile.com/en

The way my mother taught me to find things was to close my eyes and remember when in last had it in my hand. Really get clear about where I was and what hi was doing. Your brain does know when it did with it so go back to when you last had it can get you in touch with that knowledge. Good luck.

What is this magic? How do I get one? We need these in our house (forever losing phones/keys etc)

And oh so typically there is a post right above mine with a link… no wonder I lose things when I can’t even look up

Lol. We originally bought the to try to keep tabs on luggage when travelling - still not sure if there's a point in that, but great for finding phone, keys and purse/wallet. I now have a credit card shaped tile in my purse - it saves me endless time looking for it in all my coats and bags or wherever I dump it 😂

I've completely stripped the bed, checked inside the duvet and pillow cases, got a torch and shone it under the bed (eeek at horrendous amount of dust) took the opportunity to hoover under it and under the bedside table and chest of drawers. Still no bloody sign.

Been through the laundry basket, looked in every drawer in the bedroom and kitchen, looked in my son's and daughter's bedrooms (both not living at home at the moment but I would have been in both rooms during my rare "putting things back in their rightful place" spree yesterday).

I'm just so cross.

Thanks for all the encouraging posts though!

*Under the microwave (or down side/back of microwave)

*in the “pantry” cupboard

*in a shoe on the shoe rack

*between the upright couch cushion and back of couch. (Cos I’ve put it on the back of the couch and it slid down)

*in my coat pocket/handbag (when I absolutely swore blind it wasn’t but I’d inadvertently “put it away” and not remembered)

*on the side of the bath (hiding behind the shower curtain or on/in the medicine cabinet over the sink

*camouflaged on the kitchen counter.

*between the mattress and headboard

are some of my favourite places to hide my phone.

as a previous poster suggested I try to use the visualisation method. I think back to what I was doing, close my eyes and imagine I’m repeating it (sit in same chair etc) and walk myself through it - then I find it

Diplidocus4 · 10/02/2024 11:56

On the stairs under post / books ?
Somewhere in the sofa which may need it turning upside down?

Shoppingfiend · 10/02/2024 13:07

Fridge ,freezer? I was putting things away. Found paint brushes in the freezer.

Shoppingfiend · 10/02/2024 13:08

Where does it usually sit through the day

Augustus40 · 10/02/2024 13:44

Check all compartments thoroughly in your everyday handbag or holdall.

SBHon · 10/02/2024 14:12

My (shit) solution is to finally resign yourself to it being lost, give up and buy a new one.

Then the moment the new one is in your home you’ll find your old one.

Taleas0ldastime · 10/02/2024 15:01

Found mine behind a radiator once. No idea how it got there!

Augustus40 · 10/02/2024 15:20

One day in my perimenopausal years I found my mobile on top of my car roof on the drive!

LindorDoubleChoc · 10/02/2024 17:07

Update: still not found. I've been out at work today, which was tricky without a phone (multiple appointments) so now I'm working myself up to phone Vodafone. Luckily I'm well overdue an upgrade, so can get a new handset. It's everything else that's so friffing annoying Sad.

Thanks everyone for the encouragement and support! Flowers

What did you put away?
Where is the charger now?
Was it at 100% when you moved the phone?
