I've lost my phone in the house and spent at least 6 solid hours looking ... and I still can't find it!!

Just starting to panic now as obviously I need it for work ... and all my photos and contacts Sad. I hate myself for this. I'm always losing things but I've never lost my phone for over 24 hours now. It's already causing me lots of inconvenience.

Where the hell is it? I know I had it yesterday morning. It was charging by my bed. I might have left it in the bedroom or brought it downstairs with me ... it was my day off work so I spent the morning pottering about, generally tidying and putting things away. Then I had a shower. Then I went to check my phone at about lunch time ... and it's gone somewhere and I haven't seen it since.

FFS. FML. etc.

Have you asked someone to phone you? And why are you worrying about photos? Don’t you save them to the Cloud?

Vroomfondleswaistcoat · 09/02/2024 18:01

You can ask Alexa to ring you and then follow the sound...

LindorDoubleChoc · 09/02/2024 18:04

The sound is off ... I turn it off overnight and wouldn't have turned it back on again. Anyway, DH and I tried that as soon as he got home yesterday afternoon.

Lol at ask Alexa.

My teen daughter lost her phone after a week of looking and tidying her room we gave up and got her a new one, the next day she changed her bedding and the phone was inside her pillowcase!

ohmywonderment · 09/02/2024 18:05

Find my iPhone will make a noise even if you’ve put it on silent. Although you’ll have to do it before it runs out of battery.

AthenaWhite · 09/02/2024 18:08

Yup, also google find my device. It will ring even if set to silent.

Ponderingwindow · 09/02/2024 18:10

I used to have Alexa call me several times a day. Now I have an Apple Watch so I can activate find my phone from my wrist.

if I really and truly can’t find it, it is further down the sofa cushions than you can possibly imagine it being. Wedged so deep that you
will struggle to force a small arm into the crevice because it seems to be solid, not a gap. How the phone slips right in, I have no idea.

BertieBotts · 09/02/2024 18:12

If you use find my android/find my iPhone it doesn't matter that it's on silent, it makes a hugely loud noise anyway.

TummyTuckNameChange · 09/02/2024 18:12

If you have a Google home or mini, you can say hey Google find my phone and it will play a loud noise even if on silent. I use this a lot.

BertieBotts · 09/02/2024 18:12

Ask Alexa also isn't a bad suggestion, if your phone is linked to it. I know DH can do it using our Google home voice control thing (I can't because I can't be arsed to put the app on my phone)

😂 similar to mine!

MayThe4th · 09/02/2024 18:17

If it’s been missing since yesterday morning then it’s likely to be flat now and no amount of ringing or using find my or whatever will find it.

Are you absolutely certain you had it yesterday?

If you had it in the bedroom and then went and had a shower then it would still be in the bedroom, especially if that’s where you thought it was.

Has anyone been in the house? Any trades people for instance?

saveforthat · 09/02/2024 18:18

Teq · 09/02/2024 17:56

Are you currently using it to Mumsnet?

😂

Hygeelady · 09/02/2024 18:19

Under the bed? Worked its way into the quilt? Fell off the surface and into a drawer? In the wash pile or machine?

Keroppi · 09/02/2024 18:20

Pray to St Anthony 🤣
Check in the bathroom, I always leave mine on shelves/in the laundry basket
Once it was in the fridge 🙃

Wehavealaughdontwe · 09/02/2024 18:21

I ask Alexa to 'call my phone' all the time, it's the phone I used to set up the alexa app so they are connected. It seems lots of people don't realise you can do this

ParadiseLaundry · 09/02/2024 18:23

If it's an iPhone and you say 'hey siri what time is it' Siri should answer even if it's on silent. Saved me many a time.

Dustnbones · 09/02/2024 18:23

If you have an iPhone and say ‘hey siri, where are you?’ It will answer ‘here I am’ even if your phone is on silent

wallybobs · 09/02/2024 18:28

I ask Alexa to call me quite often, she always helps even when on silent.

Sadly the kids have realised they can call me on it also now and take full advantage 😭

I was just going to say this! Pray to St Anthony! Yes I know it sounds crazy, but never once has it failed me. If a thing is findable, St Anthony will help you find it

MayThe4th · 09/02/2024 18:33

OP said it’s been missing since yesterday morning. It’s flat by now.

cloudjumper · 09/02/2024 18:34

If it's an iPhone, say 'Siri, where are you', and if she hears you, she will answer

treacledan71 · 09/02/2024 18:38

Have you checked biscuit tin or something, toy box, paper rack.
