I've lost my phone in the house and spent at least 6 solid hours looking ... and I still can't find it!!

Just starting to panic now as obviously I need it for work ... and all my photos and contacts Sad. I hate myself for this. I'm always losing things but I've never lost my phone for over 24 hours now. It's already causing me lots of inconvenience.

Where the hell is it? I know I had it yesterday morning. It was charging by my bed. I might have left it in the bedroom or brought it downstairs with me ... it was my day off work so I spent the morning pottering about, generally tidying and putting things away. Then I had a shower. Then I went to check my phone at about lunch time ... and it's gone somewhere and I haven't seen it since.

FFS. FML. etc.

Ugh. I'm overly invested and frustrated for you, OP.

6strings1song · 10/02/2024 17:42

Places to check of you were doing a tidying spree:

-Cleaning supplies cupboard
-Place where you keep the hoover and associated flat surfaces
-Bookshelves
-Kitchen cupboards
-Bathroom cabinet
-Airing cupboard
-Magazine rack if you have one
-Garage?
-Shed?

Best of luck op. We have had things disappear for literally years and then randomly turn up one day. Memorably, a Christmas present which disappeared on Christmas day. We searched everywhere, including bins etc. It eventually turned up in the loft about 20 years later. So bizarre.

DysmalRadius · 10/02/2024 18:25

I prop my phone up in weird places, sometimes above my own eyeline so that I then can't find it. Can you go through what you did yesterday when you know you had your phone and check ledges and corners where you might have slid it or propped it up while you just did that thing...

Whylurkwhenicanjoinin · 10/02/2024 18:33

Not read the full thread but have you checked dustbins? I had this with a hairdryer last week, it was in the black dustbin!!

Eze · 10/02/2024 19:38

Has it slid down the side of the mattress and is now resting on the slats?

Alternatively have you put it on a bookcase/shelf as you’ve walked past?

Update: still not found. I've been out at work today, which was tricky without a phone (multiple appointments) so now I'm working myself up to phone Vodafone. Luckily I'm well overdue an upgrade, so can get a new handset. It's everything else that's so friffing annoying Sad.

Thanks everyone for the encouragement and support! Flowers

You said it's a Samsung? Unless you foolishly turned off the default, all your precious stuff will be on the Samsung cloud. It would have to be very old indeed to not have that default.

Peg bag

ooooh peg bag is a good one! DH put the (only) back door key in it once and there was massive stress at the start of the day as the house was set to be empty, could not lock door - luckily I was inspired to look there

notknowledgeable · 11/02/2024 07:28

any change it has been stolen? Arm in through an open window? or taken from the garden?

TeapotCollection · 11/02/2024 16:39

I hate to say this but you don’t think someone has hidden it do you? And they won’t say anything because they realise it’s gone beyond a joke?

LindorDoubleChoc · 11/02/2024 16:43

Well friends, time for a further update. Last night I spent over an hour on the phone with Vodafone, always my favourite way to spend a Saturday early evening Grin. Although I'm long overdue an upgrade they wanted to sell me a fairly ordinary Samsung phone over 36 months for £432. I found the same phone on Amazon for £251 so have ordered that and am going SIM only with Vodafone. 1 hour and 5 minutes to get that sorted, I ask you!

Today late morning, DH came downstairs after having a shower with ... my phone in his hand. He seemed to be in shock, as he'd spent about as much time looking for the jeffing thing. It was in his socks and t-shirts drawer. It was folded inside a t-shirt. We both just stared at each other.

The thing is, dear all on this thread, although I did some folding and putting away on that morning , I did not touch any of DH's laundry. I know this for absolute certain. I would bet everything I'm about to inherit from my mother that I didn't. I didn't check that drawer (when I did look in practically every other drawer in the house) because I knew I hadn't opened it. I hadn't washed t-shirts for him recently, there were none to put away. And actually he usually puts his own laundry away, I only do it if I'm feeling kindly.

Of course DH is denying that he put that t-shirt in there.

So it's all a bit of mystery shall we say! and a waste of so many woman hours searching. Still, at least I'm getting a long overdue new phone and halving my spend with Vodafone so that's a good outcome <<glass half full view>>.

Cheers all Wine.

Great. Can you still get an upgrade? 🤓 (the phone not DH)

TwelveKeys · 11/02/2024 16:47

Typical!!

Also who on earth keeps t-shirts in the same drawer as socks?!

VisionsOfSplendour · 11/02/2024 16:57

Good to hear it's been found but honestly, you didn't do proper looking if you missed places out because you thought it would be there 😂😂

I know.. wtf. So many of us suggested clothes drawers

Citrusandginger · 11/02/2024 17:34

Glad it's be found. Next time anything at all goes missing that T-shirt drawer will be your first port of call.

EverySporkIsSacred · 11/02/2024 17:58

Hooray! Been watching this thread with interest... glad you haven't lost your photos etc (been there!).

To be fair to him, it's a large wide drawer in the wardrobe. Like, you'd never be able to have enough socks to fill it. Anyway, the way he arranges his clothes drawers is his concern, the big eeejit.

Well, if you keep the new one, at least you have a working spare for when you lose that!

Bluetrews25 · 11/02/2024 19:32

Hate me if you wish, but I TOLD you DH was involved!! 😂

I know it won't help now but I have a tile on my key ring and if you press it your phone makes a noise

What is this thing? I’ve lost mine so many times.

Although Siri will answer if you ask it

chimichangaz · 11/02/2024 21:30

And the moral of the story is, when you've lost something order a new version and the 'lost' one will magically reappear 🪄

Moltenpink · 11/02/2024 22:32

I love it when people update these threads with where the object was! Thank you! Glad you found it.

AWOL66 · 12/02/2024 13:15

I'm so pleased you found it! I wouldn't have looked in every folded item of clothing either! Maybe your mum found it and put it somewhere she knew your DH would go to as angels can't be too obvious! I'm always hearing similar stories. 💔💖😇
