Do you eat just pancakes for your evening meal, in which case do you feel like you've actually eaten a meal? Or do you have a normal meal and a pancake pudding?
Growing up we just had pancakes but it kinda feels like I should actually give my family a proper meal and not just sugar 😆 so I'm not sure what to do this year

@AnotherEmma im wfh today and the dc are on half term so I had the time this morning when I’d usually be getting everyone up and ready.
and previously I’ve worked very locally at school friendly times so have always been able to make them before breakfast. However I usually have to wrap my hair in a towel as otherwise I can smell the fried butter all day 😂

Haha!
half term is next week for us.
Sniff.
Perhaps I can persuade DH to make pancakes for breakfast at the weekend...

sciencemama · 13/02/2024 16:04

This year my dc have gone pancake mad, they had choc crepes (shop bought for breakfast)
But I made a cheesey tomato pizza style pancake for lunch and then we had American style pancakes with maple syrup afterwards.
When do is home we will probably just eat pasta and then a few traditional lemon and sugar pancake

PrincessHoneysuckle · 13/02/2024 16:06

Ds 9 had pancakes with honey on fio breakfast.
I'm doing a pork roast dinner later with Yorkshire puddings which is the same mixture but baked!

My daughter made pancakes for brunch (she's abroad and work starts at noon). My son and I were planning on having American style pancakes but he's ill do we may just give it a miss.
I once had a Shrove Tuesday dinner party with lots of different savoury fillings - does mean someone is tied to the stove though.

DoughBallss · 13/02/2024 18:52

I have about 10 pancakes for my dinner 🤣

I did just do the kids some spaghetti on toast and two pancakes each

MrsPositivity1 · 13/02/2024 18:55

Pancakes with bacon, sausage & maple syrup 😋

Bellie710 · 13/02/2024 19:08

We have scotch pancakes at breakfast and crepes for dinner, no other main meal. Kids had 4 I had 2.

fatimashortbread · 13/02/2024 19:08

Normal main course then pancakes for dessert. So tonight we are having pasta with tomato and bacon sauce. Breakfast and lunch as normal

spacewitch99 · 13/02/2024 19:15

Is it Shrove Tuesday?? We didn’t even notice! Steak pie and tatties for dinner….😄

AristotelianPhysics · 13/02/2024 19:17

We had pancakes for lunch. I just had one big one with some honey. Wrapped it in a banana. Was lovely 😋

Lunde · 13/02/2024 19:24

I am having a Swedish Semla-bun. It is a filled cardamom spiced bun. Traditionally filled with almond paste and cream, but this year I have chosen a blueberry one from the local baker (similar to the picture), filled with blueberry jam, creme patisserie, and blueberry whipped cream.

CuteCillian · 13/02/2024 19:25

On pancake 12🥴

daffodilandtulip · 13/02/2024 19:27

Right so no one had them for lunch AND dinner then ...

(In my defence, I'm a childminder so just me and hundreds of kids 🤷🏼‍♀️😅🙈)

MadMadaMim · 13/02/2024 19:27

Just pancakes in our house. With lots of options on the table so we gel ourselves and can all eat together. Big pile of pancakes plus various filling options - fruit, maple syrup, sugar, lemon, Nutella. We have done savoury in the past but not as popular.

All my family and northern friends all have jus pancakes for dinner /tea.

Caspianberg · 13/02/2024 19:29

Had savoury - mustard chicken and mushroom in a sauce

Followed by sweet - chocolate spread/ lemon and sugar/ yogurt and raspberries depending on preference.

two spare in fridge, Ds will probably have warmed through for breakfast with maple syrup

MeinKraft · 13/02/2024 19:32

We had pancakes this afternoon and for dinner i had bought an Asda valentines meal deal thing so we had that.

Be warned: if you have bought the chicken forestier and you're planning to have it for a lovely romantic meal tomorrow, it is not good. Who knew chicken breasts could be crunchy Confused

ColdWaterDipper · 13/02/2024 19:33

We tend to have duck pancakes with spring onions and plum sauce, plus crudités for our supper and then pancakes with lemon & sugar (or chocolate spread / maple syrup etc) for pudding. But I forgot to the duck today, so we have had savoury cheese, ham and mushroom pancakes x 2 each and then too many sweet versions for pudding 😂

purplecorkheart · 13/02/2024 19:37

We had savoury pancakes here. Batter was made last night. Just due to circumstances everyone made their own and just used leftovers that were lingering in fridge that needed to be used up. Mine was left over ham, broccoli, shallot and cheese.

LyricalGangsta · 13/02/2024 19:37

Normal dinner then a couple of pancakes with lemon and sugar for pudding.
4 teens, the three boys would eat about 8 each if I let them.
1 pan and just me cooking, so that's it.

elp30 · 13/02/2024 19:38

I am not from the UK so today is Mardi Gras/ Martes de Carnaval. It's my favorite time of the year!

Although my husband is from England, we don't eat pancakes today. We eat absolutely anything we want because Lent starts tomorrow!

I am alcohol-free and vegetarian now but when I wasn't, you can bet that I was starting the day with a Bloody Mary, breakfast tacos with lots of bacon and King Cake. I'd have gumbo with shrimp, oyster and crab with corn bread and wash that down with loads of beer for lunch. For dinner, there would be smoked brisket, borracho beans, potato salad, pulled pork and definitely more beer. Obviously, I'd have the day off.

This year, there won't be a pancake in sight but lots of gooey, melty cheese. I go vegan for Lent.

Banksweregreat · 13/02/2024 19:43

We’ve had shepherds pie then 2 pancakes in an orange Cointreau sauce for pudding

Bernardo1 · 13/02/2024 19:45

43ontherocksporfavor · 08/02/2024 22:45

Pancakes as pudding or breakfast .
Never heard of anyone having them for an evening meal and I’m 50+!

Edited

This.

Interestingly, I did see in Lidl, awhile ago they had frozen pancake pieces, which you could just microwave fm from frozen. I had them as a lunch snack, when I couldn't think of anything else.

Porageeater · 13/02/2024 19:47

Same as every year, I thought briefly about doing savoury ones but just went straight for the sweet.

nokidshere · 13/02/2024 19:55

Normal breakfast & lunch, just piles of pancakes for dinnner! (Not me I don't like them)

Stardustmoon · 13/02/2024 19:58

Always pancakes for dinner with sugar and lemon.
