How many machine washes do you do a day?

Family of 6 (and 4 pets) so I do 2 a day minimum and use the dryer unless it's summer.

Each person has a day for their weekly basket of clothes to be washed.
Then there's always another load to do, bedding, towels, pet bedding, cushion covers, coats etc.

Family of 6
10/11 8kg loads a week. Usually 6 of clothes, 3 of bedding, 1 of towels.

I hang it to dry for 24 hours then put it in the dryer (the bits that can go in at least)to finish off if it’s not yet dry.

2 adults, 2 dc. Probably averages one load a day/ 6 per week including bedding and towels. There are hardly any whites so that’s a half load once a week. There is a LOT of sports kit.

Same

We are three, two adults and one teen. Clothes washes are four: darks, lights/whites, colours and navy. (WHY have we so many navy things?!?) I do the colours and the navy washing on Friday and the rest at the weekend when school uniform is done with.

Then bedding (x2) and towels during the week. Everything gets dried in the tumble dryer which nicely warms the room it's in. My priority is getting laundry done fast and tidily, I don't want airers of cold wet things hanging around for hours.

Mairzydotes · 08/02/2024 12:34

I do at least one day . I do two loads on the same day about 3 times a week . Family of 5. I wash by category
Don't have a drier but have a drysoon.

BiddyPop · 08/02/2024 12:37

In a household of 3 but 1 of those extremely sporty, we tended to have 4-6 loads per week.

Now I am solo, I am getting by with roughly 2 loads per week. 1-2 of clothes, and depending on weather and activities, another 1 of towels (they may fit with 2nd clothes load) and sheets once a fortnight. And most can dry on the clotheshorse in about 36 hours so that's fine for me.

Acatdance · 08/02/2024 12:40

Two of us, and we wash whenever we have enough for a load, probably on average twice a week.

Spencer0220 · 08/02/2024 12:43

2-3 a day, but I'm incontinent and things like my hoisting slings have to be washed alone.

Chanhedforthis · 08/02/2024 12:43

2 adults 3 kids, at least one load a day, problem is putting it away 🙁

Verv · 08/02/2024 12:52

1 human 1 dog
2 loads a week, bedding and a 40.
Then another load every 10 days or so which is a cold jeans wash.

Tetsuo · 08/02/2024 12:57

How are people generating enough washing for multiple daily loads??

Do only wear your clothes once? Are towels single use?

Family of four and two pets, four washes a week probably.

And yes, we are sporty, but kit is not exactly bulky is it?

EasternStandard · 08/02/2024 12:57

1 to 3 max

Usually 1 or two

Nevermindtheteacaps · 08/02/2024 12:27

Are you farmers or similar??

No but my husband and oldest both do a dirty job, another son goes the gym every day so we get through a lot of clothes.

elliejjtiny · 08/02/2024 13:02

2 adults, 3 teens, 2 children, 2 cats. I do 3 or 4 wash loads a day. Ds2 is a cross country runner and ds4 wets the bed so I am always washing bedding and muddy/sweaty sports kit.

Comedycook · 08/02/2024 13:04

Family of four. Two or three loads a day. They are not always full loads though but I still need them done. So for example, I may need to do a load of white washing and don't have enough for a full load but kids need school shirts washed.

Tetsuo · 08/02/2024 13:06

My personal weekly washing would be 7 pairs of knickers, 7 pairs of tights/socks. Maybe a shirt or a pair of jeans. I do swim and sauna 5 times a week, but have a few swimsuits and usually just rinse them out and hang to dry.

Bedding every 10 days I guess, 1 load for us, one for the DCs, towels once a week, that's 1 load.

No dryer. They ruin your clothes!

GrandHighPoohbah · 08/02/2024 13:06

I feel overwhelmed just reading about how much washing some people are doing!

specialk9 · 08/02/2024 13:07

2ad + 3ch + 1dog

2x dark a week
2x white a week
2x different colours (red/pink, blue/grey/green)
4x towels a week
8x bedding a week (4 beds and have to do 2x loads for each as my machine doesn't seem to cope with more)
1x pet wash
1x cleaning cloths, tea towels etc
Then probably a couple of random washes a week - dressing gowns, kids blankets, coats etc

So averages just over 3 per day.

I honestly can't fathom how people do hardly any washing a week. Do you all have huge drums ? I'm definitely buying a better washing machine so I can do 1 bed in 1 wash. But I'd still have all the loads to do.

We do only have 1 basket though between all of us. So I suppose if everyone had their own I could leave things longer.

Today I've done

Our bedsheets = 2 washes
Sons bedsheets = 3 washes as included mattress + pillow protectors as he was sick
1 x clothes wash

And I'm still do the kids towels

That's 7! 🤦🏻‍♀️

How? How do four people generate 21 loads of washing a week?

It's unfathomable!

luckylavender · 08/02/2024 13:10

2 adults. I do all my washing at weekends. Usually about 7 loads, but some of those are quick 30s for delicates.

specialk9 · 08/02/2024 13:10

I think I need a bigger drum washing machine. How are people getting 3/4 beds in ONE load? It must get creased to fuck!

Paw2024 · 08/02/2024 13:11

Just me and 2-3 a week
Exercise a lot so more to be washed plus bedding, towels, blankets, coats then normal clothes!

I do a dark load every day....this is kids uniform, dh/my clothes, pe kits, pjs.

Then a towel/sheets wash every day. Two bathrooms so two hand towels which always need washing as we have no heated towel rail so they don't dry out. I wash big towels after one wash too as no where to hang them to dry afterwards. Plus four sets of bedding to be washed...I usually change sheets once a week/fortnight.

A light/white wash every day...kids school shirts, underwear and pjs and ad hoc stuff.

Like I said often not enough for a full load but I need the stuff clean so kids don't run out of school shirts.

TheChosenTwo · 08/02/2024 13:19

4/5 people (depending on if dc1 is back from uni), I do between 1-2 washes a day.
The older 2 other own and have done since they were 13 as their clothes were similar sizes and styles and I was fed up being moaned at for confusing the washing piles so I downed tools and told them they were doing their own. So that’s handy.
I do a lot of gym/swimming, ds does a lot of football. Whites go in on their own but other than that I separate darks from lights and everything gets washed together in those categories.

Cloclo93 · 08/02/2024 13:21

Family of 3 and 3 dogs. Maybe 2 or 3 washes a week
