How old are you and how long have you been on Mumsnet?

I'll start... I'm 51 and I've been here 15 years.

I was thinking recently that Mumsnet has got older but maybe that's because I hang about in different corners (Higher Education instead of Pregnancy for example!) or click on threads that are relevant to my life now (pensions anyone?). I love the wide range of life experiences shared in general Chat and even AIBU.

I still remember my first thread when I was pregnant with DD2. Her nuchal scan showed a high risk of Down's and a friend suggested I hop onto Mumsnet for some advice. I was absolutely blown away by the kindness and support I received.

I know some topics can get a bit heated but I do hope newbies today get similarly warm reception.

How long have you been knocking around?

  1. Not sure, but I think I've been here about 17 years. I de-registered at one point but came crawling back!
izimbra · 08/02/2024 21:04

Was on mumsnet daily for years when my children were younger. Stepped away, came back years later to find it swarming with transphobes and Conservatives. It's not lovely.

64, and about 2 years

Shaunthesleep · 08/02/2024 21:07

36/7

Definitely been a game changer. Life would have worked out very differently if I'd had access to so many helpful views earlier on!

I think MN seems old too but probably because I don't have a baby now, so am not on TTC, pregnancy, baby feeding/sleeping/toddler boards.

TheGriffle · 08/02/2024 21:10

I’m 37 and I’ve been here 11/12 years.

  1. Bin in about 2yrs. Mate recommended it for reviews of products or goods. Helping me through a difficult patch. Wish I'd known about it during lockdowns

  1. Joined about 5 years ago . Hadn’t heard of MN until sons friend told me his Mum was a moderator on MN . Only joined because GC due and wanted to work out how parents tick these days. A real eye opener . Name change fairly often .

Hi ssd !

Age somewhere in my 50's.

Stopped remembering 😆

Hi , have you name changed?

Snozzlemaid · 08/02/2024 22:11

I'm 51 and joined when dd was a few months old. She's now 22 so been here for over 21 years.

weegiemum · 08/02/2024 22:42

I'm 53. I joined Mumsnet 2 weeks after my ds was born, and he was 22 this week.

My registration number is in the 3000s. I've had 4 user names and yet never get mentioned as one of the old guard. Luckily wasn't well enough known to be a mouldie.

I still love it here.

houseydnc · 08/02/2024 23:10

27, about 6 years.

Crikeyalmighty · 08/02/2024 23:26

@Nellieinthebarn that's lovely to read- was an absolute godsend during lockdown I found. !

Zoflorabore · 08/02/2024 23:29

I am 46. I joined in May 2014 so 10 years this year and I often think how I wished I’d found it sooner!

was going through the hell of a secondary school appeal for my then 11 year old ds and whilst doing some Googling I found MN. Ds is 21 in a few weeks and time has just flown so fast.

I absolutely love MN and it has helped me so much over the years.

mehyeahok · 08/02/2024 23:31

43 think first posted in 2010. Dip in and out but more recently again as finding myself at home due to ill health. Still recognise some older posters which is nice.

Ketzele · 08/02/2024 23:41
  1. Not sure exactly when I joined but it was probably 2002/3?
JDJT · 09/02/2024 00:15

Age 33 here. Joined when I was pregnant aged 30, also looking for pregnancy advice! Same thing with a slightly higher than average nuchal fold, then pregnancy bleeding! Helped to keep me calm when i was anxious and expecting (DS has just turned 2!)
