How old are you and how long have you been on Mumsnet?

I'll start... I'm 51 and I've been here 15 years.

I was thinking recently that Mumsnet has got older but maybe that's because I hang about in different corners (Higher Education instead of Pregnancy for example!) or click on threads that are relevant to my life now (pensions anyone?). I love the wide range of life experiences shared in general Chat and even AIBU.

I still remember my first thread when I was pregnant with DD2. Her nuchal scan showed a high risk of Down's and a friend suggested I hop onto Mumsnet for some advice. I was absolutely blown away by the kindness and support I received.

I know some topics can get a bit heated but I do hope newbies today get similarly warm reception.

How long have you been knocking around?

@Nellieinthebarn I hope you don’t mind but may I make a suggestion, I joined the U3a it’s for retired or semi retired people. Each local group has various interest groups. I go to a dancing class a quiz and an art group. It’s very reasonable money wise. I pay £20 per year plus £2 to £3 per session. You can dip in and out. So the art group is turn up for 2 hours, a subject is given and you paint have a small tea break, tea included in the £3 and a little chat but not much. Anyway maybe it’s not for you but I hate noise myself and am a true introvert so need a lot of time by myself recuperating after socialising and have found this is great for some socialising with parameters. All the best :)

13 years. Started off with breastfeeding advice but definitely then became instrumental in realising my XH was abusive and then leaving him (finally after several false starts). Now just wasting time and occasionally looking for gardening advice and teenager solidarity

I'm 42 and I've been here on and off for 15-16 years.

I had PPD after having DC2 who turns 16 this month, and my health visitor recommended Netmums to me. But my brain mixed up what she said and I found Mumsnet instead. Not a bad mistake to make. 😁

crumpet · 08/02/2024 16:04

Just hit a 21 year anniversary

  1. Been here about 10 years.. Absolutely believe my life choices would have been different if I had been on here longer...

Are you me?

Same age and, same time on Mumsnet and same conclusion.

HoneyMustard · 08/02/2024 16:04

40 and about 10 years. Come on here initially pre kids when a family member got involved in an mlm and my frantic googling about what kind of bat shit cult they'd got themselves into led me to here (and some very very helpful threads). Very inactive for a few years after that and then rejoined again when I was TTC about 6 years ago.

Almahart · 08/02/2024 16:05

AdoraBell · 08/02/2024 16:06

CoteDAzur · 08/02/2024 16:07

Advertisers want to know MN demographics better, do they?

shuuush · 08/02/2024 16:08

I think since about 2007/8, I used to be on the slatterns thread a lot ❤️.
I'm 45.

Knackeredhamster · 08/02/2024 16:11

I was only thinking about Babycentre yesterday and wonder if any fellow mums were here.
Was wondering how Thier lives had turned out.

I was in the April 2002 board.

I bloody loved Babycentre.

Gooseysgirl · 08/02/2024 16:12

49, been here about 13 years

Norugratsatall · 08/02/2024 16:16

59, joined in 2012 as I needed A level maths advice for DD1 who is now a post-doctoral microbiologist in the US. 😊

Lovemusic82 · 08/02/2024 16:16

42 and been here just over 20 years.

TattiePants · 08/02/2024 16:17

I'm 49 and I joined whilst on maternity leave with DD. I joined following reading about Riven in the Guardian which Google tells me was June 2011.

Tisfortired · 08/02/2024 16:19

I’m 33 and been here on and off since I had my eldest 10 years ago.

JellyComb · 08/02/2024 16:20

Im 53. I started in 2006 so 18 years! But the 12 years of that was under the username BigusBumus until i got locked out of that account somehow.

aSpanielintheworks · 08/02/2024 16:24

51, since 2009, 15 years.

Danik8 · 08/02/2024 16:27

20 years. Blimey. Hadn’t thought about it until now. I’m 47 and first came here when pregnant with DC1.

jalopy · 08/02/2024 16:30

Not at all - was genuinely curious 🧐

Pretty sure if advertisers wanted to know, MNHQ would be able to give them all that data...

(And actually @CoteDAzur I think I remember you from one of the antenatal threads from many moons ago - glad to see you're still here!)

60, been a member for about 18 months- 2 years I think. I had not heard of MN before I retired. I discovered it and joined because following retirement due to ill health I am desperately lonely, and miss the day to day chat and second hand drama I got from work. I am also autistic and, although I have tried, I have not been able to make friends in real life, so this is a bit of a lifeline.

Love this!

18 years under a few different names and long periods of just lurking.
