What do you say if someone asks your job?

Just say stay at home mum or I don't work

A Housewife and love it.

My little girl is nearly three and doesn't go to nursery yet so I just say I'm at home with her, not working right now

Carer, as I have a disabled child.

I say that I'm looking after my children. The sahm term doesn't work for us as we're out of the house 6 hours a day doing activities.

You just say you're a stay at home mum, no idea why this would cause any confusion or further questions!

I say I don’t work.

I say I look after my children.

And tbh, there are many mostly men people I've met in a business-type setting who just aren't interested in continuing a conversation once they know that

I was a SAHM before mine started preschool. I think I used to say I don't work at the minute or I'm at home with the kids at the minute.

If I was still a SAHM and my kids were at school I think I'd say I was a housewife. (I'd absolutely love to be a housewife btw to the person who is one on here! My dream job, but dh says I'm not allowed 🤣). <sulks>

It works perfectly. You're a mum who doesn't work. The term doesn't mean someone who literally stays at home. Your response is very smug.

I class work as paid employment. Of course I put lots effort into parenting but so do those who work. It’s just that I’m around more than parents who also work.

I tell them I do DH’s admin, which in fairness I do get paid to do an hour or so a day.
