Sighs

Troublee · 04/02/2024 11:41

Not sure how The Mail can be trusted but their coverage of it says this “Sonia Martin told MailOnline: 'They were XL Bullies. There were eight of them in the house, six puppies and two adults. None of them neutered, not registered.”

If what the Mail says is true the man sounds like an utter arsehole.
I wonder if nobody reported the illegal dogs, or if they were reported and nobody did anything. No point in introducing legislation if it’s not backed up by enforcement.

LFlerr · 04/02/2024 13:02

I can actually believe this.

My DM lives in Clacton - I visit regularly. There are a number of XLs still being walked regularly without muzzles. My DM tackled a group of people yesterday who were walking one with without a muzzle. She got a mouthful of abuse back (and indecent exposure as one of them pulled their trousers down at her).

Ratsoffasinkingsauage · 04/02/2024 13:03

I would imagine the neighbours are quite reliable witnesses in this case. We have someone similar nearby and we are all fully aware of his dogs and what he is up to. A tragedy waiting to happen.

LFlerr · 04/02/2024 13:03

@TheCountessofFitzdotterel - my DM recorded the group she encountered yesterday and contacted the police

Gloriosaford · 04/02/2024 13:08

Horrifying awful and tragic 😔
I had naively hoped that the legislation would have dealt with this menace 😔

I applaud her bravery and courage but I would not challenge these types of people, too scared they'd set their dog on me or find some other way to get revenge.
If I see one of these Pitbull type dogs I try to get as far away from it as I possibly can.
I guess that's part of the problem, people are too scared of them and so they become the alpha bullies who dominate the whole neighborhood and make everyone's lives a misery 😔

Ratsoffasinkingsauage · 04/02/2024 13:12

@Gloriosaford I think the next stage is actually seeing the enforcement in action there will be a proportion of bully owners who think they can brazen it out and not register the dogs.

All it will take is a few of them being fully prosecuted or losing their social housing to make them change their minds.

I hope he’s prosecuted for manslaughter.

Thank you for the reassurance and I hope you are right🙏🏻
Pitbull type dogs have caused fatalities worldwide, from what I can gather they are a huge problem in parts of the USA

Well, things are relative. For the US, guns ....

That poor woman, my heart goes out to her family.

The owner sounds like an absolute cunt, apparently he was quoted as saying no one is going to tell him what to do with his fucking dogs. Well thankfully they will all be put down now and he will hopefully spend a long time in prison, and never be allowed to own animals again.

Just so fucking angry yet another person has to lose their life so horrifically to these awful creatures.

Deathbyfluffy · 04/02/2024 13:21

I have an acquaintance who’s a police officer for a force covering Jaywick - some of the stories he’s come out with in the past are jaw-dropping.

Not seen him for a while, but I don’t expect things are any better than 5 years ago when we last caught up. Awful place

HobnobsChoice · 04/02/2024 13:21

Based on the family description of events I suspect the owner is the father of her grandson/her son in law. That poor woman and the poor child seeing this

Louise0808 · 04/02/2024 13:26

This is why they got banned. Things like this.
Makes me angry because I've had to exempt my 2 American bulldogs which are a completely different breed. They meet alot of the measurements so as precaution ive exempted them. Which they don't deserve. And then you have people who clearly have that breed and they arent following the law.
I'll always stick to it isn't the breed it is the owner and the breeder.
Owners because you should be responsible, train your dogs and if they display any aggression it is your duty to keep everyone safe so muzzle the dog ( this is to all breeds) and only buy a dog you can actually cope with. Breeders because they don't care do they. They'll get 2 highly driven aggressive dogs, breed them for profit, sell them to whoever and they don't care what they put out into the world or where that pup ends up.
Profit over welfare and good breeding and responsible homing.
They will move onto another breed and destroy that soon enough. The goverment need to put a responsible owner law in place for bigger dogs. I'll never have a small breed but I know what I'm doing with dogs. Alot of people have breeds they have no business owning. Like you can't go from a Yorkshire terrier to an xl bully and think it's the same. They are not. This is why so many helpless people are being attacked and losing their lives.

This is bringing out the snobbery in people. There's a real problem with grading people on socioeconomic status. Humans are equal, they're not better if they have have a suburban semi and a LandRover in the driveway Confused. This is a tradegy.

pasteloblong · 04/02/2024 13:44

It's absolutely ridiculous. These dogs should have all been surrendered to the police in a certain week and shot. Anyone not surrendering should be imprisoned. All this muzzling and registration stuff is just crap. Put them all down. None of the ferals will take responsibility for these creatures. You can't expect them to because they're feral and have to be physically forced to do things.

CandiceEatsCandiez · 04/02/2024 13:48

Lock him up and euthanize the dog. Having pitbulls is just insane. I remember a time years ago when I was taking my little waddling little niece to the park and we turned the corner and ran into a young man, probably a teenager with his hood up and a massive pitbull. It was absolutely petrifying. Mind you he did say sorry and move to the side but still what are you thinking? There were several pitbull awareness events recently where all these folks were practically begging to feel personally victimised. Get it together.

EasternStandard · 04/02/2024 13:49

So depressing and awful

hattie43 · 04/02/2024 13:54

It's always the same story , scum owner living on sink estate . When we will stop this political correctness and ban large powerful dogs from social / council housing .

This guy needs a long jail sentence

I judge on people's behaviour. I'd rather walk down a street in middle class suburbia after dark than in Jaywick and places like it. Nothing to do with snobbery, it's just self preservation.

pasteloblong · 04/02/2024 13:58

He needs charging with manslaughter at least. He'll probably be let off with a suspended sentence and he'll go looking for a batch of Cane Corso puppies to torment the neighbourhood with. I bet they're charming lil nanny dogs if you cross them with a doberman or rottweiler. Make them extra cuddly by adding in some German Shepherd.

Mi lyfe, mi dogg, mi rulez 🙄
