So its sort my dump/shithole/trampy house in and out day. I'm gonna sulk for about an hour then get started.

I have a carpet which i was going to use to put on top of my daughters carpet because I thought it might help with sound proofing the floor a bit if she had double carpet. But im not sure? So I Need to think about if I'm still doing that. Or of I'm bining it.

Also in a few weeks or so I was thinking about panelling my hall and stairs. So I would need to remove the end banister I guess I should do that this weekend so it cam go on the bin as well.

I'm really pissed of about that big white unit thing in the garden.

Also I have been a massive prick. I managed to stuff 2 sofas into the shed. Now I'm scared to get them out.

I also need to stop being a prick with the washing and My room . I keep nagging the kids whilst my room is a shit hole and I don't keep it tidy for more than a few days.

@Shithole101

Please don't use the word tramp in this manner.

Thatbloodyhedge · 27/01/2024 14:19

Well done so far
But the time you've spent posting you could have sorted that room pronto?

Shithole101 · 27/01/2024 14:19

I have rolled it up 🤣. Loads of people told me it looked crap. And to be honest I was not keen

We all have different ways of doing things. I started this sort myself out thing a while back. When it felt hopeless. Mn posters told me a bit at a time. Even if its 10 mins sit down for a bit then do some more . I didn't believe them. Thought what a load of rubbish , though I'm never going to get anywhere. But I tried it anyway . And they were right. I have got lots done . So that's what I have been doing .

Have loads of people been to your house since this morning?

foxlover47 · 27/01/2024 14:36

You're not a shitbag at all , you're getting it done!
It's so difficult to motivate when you're mental health has taken a nosedive , the garden is looking great already :)

EmmaEmerald · 27/01/2024 14:37

Good for you OP. I know how hard this is.

I love the that you said you’re going to sulk for an hour and then start. I should build in sulking time to get it done!

You need to retrain yourself to do things like close a drawer when you've got something out of it. Or put rubbish straight in the bin. Or pick something up from the floor when you see it.

Otherwise it's never going to improve you'll be in a cycle of tidy / mess / rage / tidy. You need to learn to be tidy.

Spot on.

She has about a thread a week moaning about the state of her house, does a bit, goes away, and then comes back to moan again.
It would take so little time if she simply Got On With It, instead of looking for validation all the time.
Harsh? Maybe, but there really is only so much help and advice mners can give.

I actually agree with this. Especially for those that don’t know about OPs previous posts, people will be coming onto the thread trying to give advice on what needs to be worked on. Yet, the OP knows all of this anyway.

Surely it’d be best to start one thread and continue updating it with pics and posts? That way those that want to follow your journey and know your story can do so OP?

NeverGuessWho · 27/01/2024 14:53

Fantastic progress on the garden!

I've just read the bit where you said you completed the boys' room & it's still tidy, which is amazing.

This is something that I've found really helps me - for example, I decluttered & decorated my living room last summer. Prior to that, it was always messy, but now, every night before bed, I make sure everything is put away and that it's as tidy as it can be for the next morning.

That way, if anybody pops round, the room is ready for people to relax in. The DCs (teenagers) know that I get grumpy and stressed out if they leave that room a mess, so they are really respectful and keep it tidy. The most that needs doing of a night time, is moving cups to the kitchen, and flumping up a cushion.

Well done on getting the boys on board. Bedrooms are difficult to keep on top of I think. My DCs manage it, but I still struggle with mine, but I'm getting there.

I post on mn like this because I find it helpful.

Is it though? You have posted incessantly for a long time about your house, and must have had replies well into the thousands, but you haven't managed to sort it out.

People patiently give you advice but clearly you either don't take it on board or perhaps it's the wrong advice, whi knows

Meanwhile there are well meaning posters telling you that you're an amazing inspiration because you picked a crisp packet up off the stairs, thus validating the way you live as the norm. I know they're trying to be encouraging but I'm not sure it's that helpful in the long run

Seriously, if you just took a break from posting about this on MN and actually got on with it on a daily basis until it became second nature, you might be surprised at what you could achieve.

Tinkerbyebye · 27/01/2024 09:48

How about instead of spending the 30 minutes or so you will have already spent posting and reading and responding to replies you just tidy!

If only life was that easy.

Is it really so hard to understand that someone may be overwhelmed and this and the other threads are motivating and also comforting?

OP has had a rough time. She has remained strong and resolute. She also has been open and honest.

Shithole I hate calling you that 😂 stay strong. You are doing brilliantly.

Shithole101 · 27/01/2024 15:18

Just thought I would post a few pics . Just to show how far I have come . I have not posted the before pictures . Because its about moving on and being positive.

My negative posts /pictures are wrong saying I fucked up. I need to sort this . After pictures are saying I got there.

Sometimes the positive pictures may slip back to negative. But I know I can get there again and I don't let it slip for to long .

Also baring I'm mind i do this completely on my own without any help what so ever.

If people don't understand why I post then that's on them. I understand why I post. I know that it's help me. I know my own mindset. Other people have said my posts have helped them .

I'm not going to reply to any post that imply I should not post . Because that is my choice no one else's.

It is very hard for many people to understand sadly .

And thanks. I have filled the skip bag now . It would be handy if I could out some bits in the other bag thry sent, but I'm not 100% clear if I have paid for its collection

So now the house is nice and tidy, it will take a matter of minutes per room each day to keep it like that.

Mudflapflat · 27/01/2024 15:31

What are you tidying up for? Let me explain. I am a person who is solely motivated by positive feedback. Therefore I have no incentive to tidy up as nobody is going to see it. Is that like you?

Not that simple sadly . But yes will be easier than what it has been.
