So its sort my dump/shithole/trampy house in and out day. I'm gonna sulk for about an hour then get started.

I have a carpet which i was going to use to put on top of my daughters carpet because I thought it might help with sound proofing the floor a bit if she had double carpet. But im not sure? So I Need to think about if I'm still doing that. Or of I'm bining it.

Also in a few weeks or so I was thinking about panelling my hall and stairs. So I would need to remove the end banister I guess I should do that this weekend so it cam go on the bin as well.

I'm really pissed of about that big white unit thing in the garden.

Also I have been a massive prick. I managed to stuff 2 sofas into the shed. Now I'm scared to get them out.

I also need to stop being a prick with the washing and My room . I keep nagging the kids whilst my room is a shit hole and I don't keep it tidy for more than a few days.

It won't harm the door he just wanted to use the vinegar. He felt he was helping.

I clean everything with white vinegar. It's the best!

I'm not even sure how to use it? I thought you could use it for wiping down surface, mopping floors ? I thought it helped with smells as well? But I'm not sure

Nothing wrong with using vinegar for the doors. If he wants to clean encourage him and make it fun! 😁The vinegar can smell strong at first if you aren't used to it, but soon goes away and is much more pet friendly than many cleaners.

Thatbloodyhedge · 28/01/2024 19:11

Warm soapy water?
Then dry off
Then use white vinegar
To the poster who said it's pet friendly, it's not
My dog hates it and sneezes for ages

That's exactly why I let him. I can't smell anything as i have a cold. I asked ds if he can smell vinegar. He said it smells like cheese and onion crisps 🤣

As @peoplearepeople says, the smells disappears after 20 mins or so...

It's amazing. Vinegar is really brilliant for so many things. Use it to wipe down surfaces, (you can scent it with citrus peels), you can mix it with bicarbonate of soda for bathrooms, hobs, all kinds of things! My gran used with newspaper to clean windows.

Washing up liquid in hot water

muchalover · 28/01/2024 19:30

For me 2024 is the year of finishing things. The conservatory floor, the hall floor (I had a smoky fire in 2022) and the living room floor. Painting some colour on bedroom walls which were all painted white after the fire.

My son and I put up two IKEA shoe storage wall units this weekend which makes a big difference to how tidy that looks.

Just keep chipping away but I am trying to focus on one thing at a time until it's finished now.

Sorry to hear about the fire . Yes little things can make a big difference. I have a basic shoe storage that fits into the cupboard near my front door. So shoes are hidden

Should it be watered down ? Or can it be user neat? Also can I make a solution of bicarbonate soda and white vinegar in a bottle. Or do I Need to make it at the time of using it?

Right reading this thread has prompted me to go and put another load of washing on!
Household has been swept down with a horrible cold/temperature/cough bug this weekend, I do keep it tidy but hadn’t done any washing today and I usually do a load a day, 2 on a Sunday as it’s clean sheets day!
So this thread has motivated me.
OP go at your own pace. I’ve had low spells and everything seems impossible where you have to just do what you can manage when you can. Although I’ve had help because I live with dh and the dc, together we’ve always made it through. Even now I will declare a 10 minute tidy where everyone has to choose a room and do what they can to help clear it - take out glasses/cups, fold and tidy blankets, whatever.

justtidying · 28/01/2024 19:44

Water it down for the spray (good for surfaces including windows/mirrors/shower doors) but don't pre mix the bicarbonate because it creates a reaction. You can either mix as a paste when you are ready to clean or sprinkle the bicarbonate, then spray the vinegar and watch the reaction (I like this way, it's satisfying).

Honestly, google it. You will find loads of tricks!

Thank you . I think I may have misunderstood you maybe took you the wrong way a bit because I feel like i have spent the day defending myself. And it's brought me down a bit . So I probably took it out on your post a bit. There is a reason I do new threads but I don't want to say on here because I don't want to trigger anything.

@Shithole101

dont worry about it. I can't believe how well you have dealt with the nasties today.

carry on doing what you're doing, it's working!!

Ah yeah some mn post were saying similar when I started all this . Which is what helped. When I was in a mega state . It is working otherwise I would still be in the same place .

I have not been very good at ignoring lately to be honest.

Thank you I will 💐

Pretty sure it's quite pet friendly compared to the usual thing like zoflora etc that so many like to cover their homes in. Of course you should always keep an eye on your pets when using products and ideally keep them out the way and the room well ventilated.
