Messy house/garden pics

So its sort my dump/shithole/trampy house in and out day. I'm gonna sulk for about an hour then get started.

I have a carpet which i was going to use to put on top of my daughters carpet because I thought it might help with sound proofing the floor a bit if she had double carpet. But im not sure? So I Need to think about if I'm still doing that. Or of I'm bining it.

Also in a few weeks or so I was thinking about panelling my hall and stairs. So I would need to remove the end banister I guess I should do that this weekend so it cam go on the bin as well.

I'm really pissed of about that big white unit thing in the garden.

Also I have been a massive prick. I managed to stuff 2 sofas into the shed. Now I'm scared to get them out.

I also need to stop being a prick with the washing and My room . I keep nagging the kids whilst my room is a shit hole and I don't keep it tidy for more than a few days.

Just to answer as a whole . There's no way I'm doing decorating/diy why I have to get rid of all this crap. I was just thinking for another tome. But also thinking of the stuff I Need to get rid of if i do decide to do theses things. As I Need it gone in one go

Edited

Realistically if you can get rid of it all in one go then great but it sounds like you are setting too high expectations tbh.

More realistic to do what you CAN do to make progress and not try to boil the ocean

I can sort the Drawers to be honest . Just wasn't in the mood to . I Need to buy another chest of drawers .

Bossy voice ON.

You don’t need another chest of drawers, you already have two. Sort out the ones you already have and organise them properly.

Listen to podcast 'a slob comes clean' and read/listen to her book 'declutter at the speed of life' they will REALLY help you.

Forget about double carpeting/panelling walls for now you need to focus on decluttering and getting what you have NOW in order. This is going to take you quite some time.

The reason I mentioned about the carpet thing was because if I'm not going to end up using it I need to get rid of it now . If I decide in a few weeks time. I'm going to be stuck with the carpet. And same with the paneling I would need to get rid of the 2nd banister than would go into the skip bag. That does not mean I'm rushing to do the paneling literally now .

No i don't 🤣. That blue one you see is a cabinet/small side board . Which I was putting my clothes in. The white one has my kids clothes in it . So I Need a proper chest of drawers for my own clothes which i want in white. That blue cabinet is going.

You’re doing great OP, a lot of others might not get it but I do. You’re not a useless shitbag Flowers

Regarding the clothes it's highly likely you all just have too many. Things we did:

The DC has 10 pairs of identical socks each but different to each others - all suitable for school.

10 pairs of pants each

Minimal school uniform

I thought through what non-school clothing the really needed and kept the minimum.

When we washed we hung outfits onto hangers to dry and the little bits tumble dried them. It meant it was so quick to put the dry clothes away. It was their job to sort out pants and socks into piles.

You may have to wash a little more often but the advantage is that you don't end up with piles of clean laundry to put away as it gets reworn quickly. It also means you need to do a load of laundry on the days you don't feel like it but later on you have the sense of achievement of having done it.

We had 2 adults and 4 DC so doing a load per day was essential and we had a dark, light and pink/purple/red wash. You may find it possible to alternate darks and lights and use a colour catcher.

You need to retrain yourself to do things like close a drawer when you've got something out of it. Or put rubbish straight in the bin. Or pick something up from the floor when you see it.

Otherwise it's never going to improve you'll be in a cycle of tidy / mess / rage / tidy. You need to learn to be tidy.

Shithole101 · 27/01/2024 12:50

I'm really confused. I have 2 hippo bags. I don't know why they have sent me 2. On the delivery note it says we will deliver your hippo bag(s) and then the invoice says about a code I use so they can collect the the bag(s) it's them who put the s is brackets. I'm not sure if I can use the 2nd bag or not.

I really like your posts. You're doing amazing. ❤️

I like your threads OP and I can totally empathise with the struggle and the calling yourself names.
It helps to see threads like this that I can identify with. I frequently feel like I don't belong on here when I read so many threads about private schools, nannies, 6 figure jobs and which £300 handbag to buy. The awful comments from posters on the thread about people not wanting to buy a house near Social Housing nearly finished me off the other day ☹️
So do not take any notice of the nasty posters, or let them put you off posting!

Have you tried the Goblin Tools app? I saw it recommended on here and it really helps me when I'm in a slump or going through one of my stages where I feel paralysed by everything and can't seem to get started.
You can type in anything and it breaks every job down into small steps that you can tick off as you go along. You can delete or add tasks to suit you.

ilovemyspace · 27/01/2024 13:00

@Shithole101 Nice to see you back again :) Looks like you've got your 'get up and go' back again!

What did you decide about the big rug in the end??

gluggle · 27/01/2024 13:04

I think the very best thing you could do OP is have a social media hiatus for a week or so. Every time you get the urge to post on MN about your house, every time you get the urge to take photos of your house, just pick something up instead. Like the old elastic band around the wrist in CBT. You need to form new habits, cleaning up needs to become a part of normal life for you.

ChocolateCandle · 27/01/2024 13:05

Well, you've inspired me to get off the sofa and sort out the spare room (including putting the Christmas decorations back in the loft!). I'll be back at 3.30 for a cup of coffee and to catch up with this thread.

Must not be tempted to keep reading...

Itsabouttimeformetogetonthefloor · 27/01/2024 13:20

This will come cross harshly, but for someone who has been homeless at points in my life, your thread title has touched a nerve. Actual ‘tramps’, if we are still using that word, would be over the moon to have a house like this, and to have all this stuff. I would say step one would be to stop following social media influencers who are clearly encouraging you to fill your house with all of this stuff and do things like adding diy wall panelling.

I post on mn like this because I find it helpful.

Just get a licensed man with a van to get rid of the crap and clean your home?
Simple

NeverDropYourMooncup · 27/01/2024 13:27

If it's a rented property, they're very unlikely to give you permission to remove bannisters and start cladding walls with flammable materials.

I'm sorry if I have offended you . I have also been homeless with my children. Although not Street homeless. I have been through absolute hell. Not with busy my housing but many other things. As I said im very sorry if I upset you . I did not mean to. I would not call a homeless person a tramp . I would use the word Street homeless. I know the word trampy is not nice and was in the past ( not sure about now) was used to describe a homeless person . In my case it's something I have used towards myself taking about how messy I am. I know there not necessarily the right word. But it was used towards myself not anyone else purely towards myself.

You have also totally misunderstood my thinking with the rest if the house.

As I said im sorry I hurt your feelings

Is the outside picture your front garden?
It’s totally unnecessary to dump crap like that out in the open; your neighbours must be so pissed off living near you.

maddiemookins16mum · 27/01/2024 13:44

I honestly couldn’t live like that, it hugely affects your mental health. The first picture looks like you’re not even shutting the drawers? I hope you get it sorted, you’ll feel so much better and it will be far nicer for you (and your neighbours if that’s your front garden).

Good luck.

Thatbloodyhedge · 27/01/2024 13:50

Don't even think about cladding/ diy
You can't even tidy your own bedroom?

rockstarshoes · 27/01/2024 13:58

Op, I think it might be helpful if you kept to one thread!

There are people who have seen your other threads, read about the situation are in & are amazed at the progress you are making and willing you on. ( I'm in that camp)

Then you get people who don't understand the situation and are being very negative about stuff! You then waste time explaining why you're posting etc.

If you kept one thread, we could all support & you would have a record of the progress you have made in every area of your home!

You're amazing, you're still standing and making such positive changes for you & your family 💐!
