Messy house/garden pics

So its sort my dump/shithole/trampy house in and out day. I'm gonna sulk for about an hour then get started.

I have a carpet which i was going to use to put on top of my daughters carpet because I thought it might help with sound proofing the floor a bit if she had double carpet. But im not sure? So I Need to think about if I'm still doing that. Or of I'm bining it.

Also in a few weeks or so I was thinking about panelling my hall and stairs. So I would need to remove the end banister I guess I should do that this weekend so it cam go on the bin as well.

I'm really pissed of about that big white unit thing in the garden.

Also I have been a massive prick. I managed to stuff 2 sofas into the shed. Now I'm scared to get them out.

I also need to stop being a prick with the washing and My room . I keep nagging the kids whilst my room is a shit hole and I don't keep it tidy for more than a few days.

Perhaps sorting out, folding and putting away washing becomes a task you do with the youngest boys. Part of your evening routine when they are with you. Even if it is limited to half an hour.

Good habit and good life skills for them.

As I said way down having fewer clothes in circulation makes it easier.

We don't actually have many clothes the 2 youngest share a 6 drawer chest . I definitely don't have many clothes at all. I know its a skill they Need . But I would rather get on top of things first . Then I can bring them into it a little. At the moment it would just give me more work . I don't want to do that just now.

Your landlord has given you permission to remove the bannisters in the house, really??

I'm allowed to remove the handrail. Not actual bannister .

And why are you going to need to remove the handrail?

Jibo · 28/01/2024 10:34

I literally just asked the same question and you said you could remove the banister! Best double-check so you're clear, it would be a shame if you got into trouble again so soon after the fly-tipping incident.

Why do I feel like your over questioning me . I might have you totally wrong . But im just not getting a good vibe 😕

I probably used the word banister instead of handrail. The other issue has been dealt with its dine and dusted I don't know why you have bought it up .

I just don't understand why you are going to need to pull apart the handrail or banister, it makes no sense.
Are you saying temporarily remove and put back on or permanently remove?
I can't picture why?

It'll be permanently removed because once the mdf strips have been glued on to create panelling, they're not coming off without the whole wall needing replastering

Erm depends how they are put up. I also have not 100% decided if I'm doing it .

I’m guessing you’ve two handrails - a handrail on the wall where you want the panelling and then the handrail that is in the bannister in the other side?

I think if you’ve managed to get everything into the skip bags from the front of your house and the back garden, you’ve done well for this weekend but if you have time and the will, you could weed/trim the grass from the front - where the rail fence is as it would really neaten it.

FreebieHound · 28/01/2024 10:53

Even if the LL is OK with you doing something that could potentially end with the whole wall needed replastered, I wouldn't be planning ambitious DIY work while a) short of money and b) so exhausted you're struggling to keep on top of basic household management - seems like you're setting yourself up for disappointment. This is your long-term home so you have plenty of time. Leave the carpet and banister (or whatever it is) for now and just focus on the basics sounds like you'll be able to fill your current hippo bags either way and you can always get another hippo bag later on.🙂

That's a good idea. I can put garden waste in the hippo bag. There's only that little patch. Then when the bag is removed I just need to remove a few bits of weeds that are on the path . Then wash it over with a stiff broom.

Are you going to have to make this good before you move out? I need my stairs plastered and it is going to cost 4 figures.

Do, if you can. I think a front garden can set the tone for the rest of the house, - grass is neatly trimmed, no weeds and paths swept, etc.

As soon as I replied to you post I want out there 😅 and yes I agree . I am ashamed of how it looks out there . But I can change that so I am now . I just popped in to get the smaller hippo bag . Going back out now . I done quite a bit already.

I was about to post about the front garden but I see you're on it. I agree, you will feel a sense of pride if the front looks neat and tidy and you're contributing to a better neighbourhood too.

DONT panel the walls. It's unnecessary expense, it won't suit the house and it's something else to dust.

Maybe I will sort the main rooms first and think about the hall way later.

I have done quite a bit in the front now. The main bits are done. I keep getting out of breath so I'm gonna go out in a short while and hopefully finish of best I can . Its a bit hard with the hippo bags there . But most of it should get done.

Yes, work on maintaining a clean standard with what you already have, and proving to yourself you can maintain it, before adding more faff.

Nchanged89 · 28/01/2024 12:43

Honestly, leave pulling the handrail off alone and concentrate on emptying bins and getting rid of rubbish.

Shithole101 · 28/01/2024 12:43

I have a done 3 loads of washing. Just waiting for the last one to finish. Then I'm going to hang that up to dry. Have cleaned kitchen. Need to finish out the front best I can . Tidy living room. Then I'm done.

I don't think anyone should put pictures of their DCs bedrooms on the internet as a general principle, but especially not when they are teens and especially on threads where you disclose personal information @Shithole101

I've seen a lot of your threads. Personally I would start one and stay on it instead of creating lots of different ones. It gives all the background (eg I would have said if you'd just been done for flytipping, get your front garden cleared in the interest of good neighbourly relations) so you'll get more useful feedback.

Personally I would ask MNHQ to take down the photos of your DCs bedrooms (if you report your posts and explain they'll do it). I try not to disclose any info about my DC on giant internet sites but always always anonymously (eg name changing and no "outing" details. There are 30 days only and quieter areas of MN but they'll still be out there.

I don't think you want quieter areas anyway as I think (and understand) that you want the "well done's" and attention and you get more attention from multiple new threads but as a strategy this isn't the best. RL support is better and you've had advice how (and I think the MNHQ links, but I'll ask them to do it again in case) to seek it on previous threads.

CrushaMilkshake · 28/01/2024 12:49

I don't agree. You have My thinking and my mind set totally wrong . One of the things you not understanding is I have (no one) In really life . And if (i) feel theses threads help me. Even if I do get a handful of people trying to make my journey negative. Then that's down to them . I can't control what others say . You may not understand abd I dont think you do. You have no idea how much theses threads have helped me.

I'm not going to explain myself over and over about why I post. And if its ok or not
