Inspired by a recent discussion on Reddit.

I am interested in any brilliant 80s songs that you think should be better known.

Thanks in advance for your suggestions.

One that I found on YouTube, that I hadn't heard before is: -

What About Me? by Moving Pictures

I really like it.

Thanks for everyone's input.

Hopefully this thread can continue over the weekend as I'm really enjoying it. Smile

The Mood, a synth pop outfit from Leeds released three singles in the early 80s, none of which were big hits but should have been.

Is there a reason?

Passion in dark rooms

Paris is one day away

The Mood - Is There A Reason

Released in 1981. Why wasn't this a huge hit !

2 songs from the 80s, that show what mixed musical taste I had (amongst the good stuff I liked) achingly untrendy-

Alvin Stardust - Feels like Buddy Holly (1984 ?) Written by Mike Batt.

David Essex - Myfanwy (87)
This one not really a a hit at all, but I remember it vividly- music by Mike Read (the radio DJ- based on the poem by John Betjeman). Was a massive flop. But I remember David trying to promote it on breakfast tv.

greengreengrass25 · 19/01/2024 22:03

I liked silver dream machine and me and my gal nightclubbing by David Essex too

MuddledMadge · 20/01/2024 09:31

I'm currently building a play list based on this thread - not adding everything, just the things I like and also others that are springing to mind. It's going to be banging.

@pointythings I used to know a guy whose cousin was in Comsat Angels. Apparently they were very big in Iceland. Well I'd settle for that !

mbosnz · 20/01/2024 20:10
