What do we think?

I'm actually more impressed than I expected to be. Starting to think they might be in with a chance.

Sir Keir Starmer: UK faces a year of choice, Starmer says in key speech - BBC News

The Labour leader's speech in Bristol comes at the start of a year that's almost certain to have a general election.

Here we go again re 'shy Tories'. Give it a bloody rest. Have you not seen how many left-leaning women are struggling with this issue and feeling politically homeless?

And as for not understanding how it's affecting votes...well, it just goes to show that you really don't understand the monumental impact of what happens when our rights have gone.

I literally can’t see any reason for risking these particular Tories again.
If the polls are accurate (in any way) it isn’t affecting votes so 🤷‍♀️
It’s obviously an important issue, but it’s not the only one, and Labour aren’t unique in their approach to it so most people don’t seem to be letting it control their vote.

IClaudine · 04/01/2024 20:36

I owe it to my daughter not to support a party who doesn't give a shit about safeguarding, and lets any bloke who fancies it into previously single sex spaces

Better not vote Tory then.

NoWordForFluffy · 04/01/2024 20:39

Awwww <shrug> who gives a shit about safeguarding our kids; being directed to call your rapist 'she' in Court; men being allowed to compete in women's sports; men being put into women's prisons etc, etc? 🙄

What a disappointment for women if Labour fail to unequivocally stand up for our rights in advance of the next GE.

It would be so easy for them to treat women as equal to men & to commit to women’s single sex spaces and sports. Any democracy that seeks to put the wishes of males before the needs of women Is undemocratic. Lecturing and name calling women who won’t vote for a party that doesn’t understand that baffles me.

Labour could so easily do the right thing by women but they won’t!

I don’t blame any woman for declining to vote for Labour while they continue to commit to anti women agendas . And no this doesn’t make me a Tory I just despair that the Left are failing women. They need to earn my vote, they haven’t .

Remind me who has been in power while this has happened?

But are you voting in a way that allows Tories in? Same thing.

Do you think Starmer will be good at restoring sex based rights?

I'm. Not. Voting. Tory.

cardibach · 04/01/2024 21:04

No it's not!

How other people vote is not my responsibility.

Are you doing anything to stop them getting back in? Like, for eg, voting for the candidate who can get/keep them out in your constituency?

NoWordForFluffy · 04/01/2024 21:05

How you vote is.
Are you voting for someone who can get/keep them out in your constituency?

Circular argument. I don't have to do that.

You badgering, badgering, badgering isn't going to change my mind you know.

lifeturnsonadime · 04/01/2024 21:06

i am looking forward at who will resolve this.

if Labour commit to resolving it, they will get my vote .

i won’t hold my breath though , the way Rosie continues to be treated speaks volumes.

cardibach · 04/01/2024 21:07

EasternStandard · 04/01/2024 21:04

Do you think Starmer will be good at restoring sex based rights?

Better than Tories?
Yes.
And his other policies will help women, girls and other disadvantaged groups.

cardibach · 04/01/2024 21:06

Give it a rest. It’s up to Labour to attract women not throw them under a bus then demand people vote to keep others out

For sex based rights

What policy are you thinking of

Pleas don’t allow Tory propaganda and divisiveness make this a one or two issue election.
What do you think about:
the economy
the NHS
education
benefits
immigration
the handling of asylum claims
the environment
and on and on.

Fuck me. Get over yourself.

Why don't you get your beloved Labour to sort themselves out so I can vote for them (as I want to), rather than banging on and on and on and on and on and on and on and on at me for not voting for them.

I'm not going to. Stop going on.

EasternStandard · 04/01/2024 21:08

Labour policies are always better for the less advantaged. Women and girls often fall into that group.

I have never said vote for them.
I’ve said vote for whoever can get/keep a Tory out in your constituency.
Which is the only logical course of action given the last 13 years.

Sex based rights in particular?

Pro Labour are as bad at answering as Starmer

lifeturnsonadime · 04/01/2024 21:11

Oh dfod , I won’t be lectured on what o feel is more important by someone who fails to understand that Labour could do better on this issue.

Wr could have all those things PLUS single sex spaces and sports if Labour were prepared to see women as equal to men.

Excellent. Glad to read that you will vote Labour or Lib Dem, depending on what works tactically in your constituency.

Why on earth are posters assuming who @NoWordForFluffy will vote for?

Is this the new Labour take
