Anyone not doing a roast dinner tomorrow?

My mam always used to do a roast Christmas day, boxing day and NYD.

I genuinely cannot be bothered. I'm not celebrating tonight.

I'm making whatever in the freezer tomorrow like any other Monday.

I think my depression is creeping in a bit in all honesty.

As I discovered from MN that Scotland = Steak Pie that is what we are having. DFiancé is from Scotland and so after confirming with him we are having that and apple crumble for after.

Therealjudgejudy · 31/12/2023 12:18

Kind of....I do meat free January so will be doing mash, carrots, broccoli and cauliflower along with Yorkshire puddings and gravy and just cook chicken for my partner

Today is Spaghetti bolognese with lots of grated mozzarella

LuluBlakey1 · 31/12/2023 12:20

Never do one on New Year's Day.

We are going for a 6 mile walk (DC on bikes) along the prom and back and coming home for homemade vegetable and lentil soup and crusty bread and butter followed by baked apples from the garden and custard.

Icantbedoingwithit · 31/12/2023 12:23

I always do one New Years Day snd was inwardly dreading it. After reading all these I think it’s safe to say I shall NOT be doing one! Thanks OP!

ChevyCamaro · 31/12/2023 12:28

Fish tonight, roast beef tomorrow - always do a roast, steak pie, or go for a massive curry out somewhere with friends.

Blueberrycreampie · 31/12/2023 12:28

Having the beef we didn't get round to at Christmas today so tomorrow will be some kind of beef Stir-Fry probably.

mrsbyers · 31/12/2023 12:30

Yet to have a roast this festive period but off out for one in half an hour , have some sort of lurgy so not sure how much I’ll manage but looking forward to loads of veggies and lovely gravy

trulyunruly01 · 31/12/2023 12:32

I've got a leg of lamb to slow roast with lots of herby seasoning.
We rarely have lamb as the others don't much like it so I am extra anticipating as it's my favourite.

TheMousePipes · 31/12/2023 12:33

Yea, it not because it’s NYD per se. Just because it’s what we fancied earlier in the shops. Dd has got a hideous sore throat/cold so I’m doing poached chicken today so she can have it again tomorrow if the pork sounds a bit much.

Whoopitywhoops · 31/12/2023 12:33

No I will be eating crisps

FizzyStream · 31/12/2023 12:36

I'm doing a roast today only because I got a half price leg of lamb in the shopping last week and the use by date is today. Otherwise we'd just have something else. It's fairly easy to do and the kids love it so win win.

FizzyStream · 31/12/2023 12:37

Tomorrow we'll just be hoovering up leftovers I think.

Peachy2005 · 31/12/2023 12:41

Oh dear, now I feel inadequate as had nothing planned! I had better head out to the shops - teenager will be hungry if nothing else 😂

Walker1178 · 31/12/2023 12:42

Nope. Christmas Day is a full roast dinner, Boxing Day it’s cold meats and salads. Tomorrow it’s party buffet style at my mums with us all contributing a couple of dishes such as baguettes, chicken nibbles, quiches, salads. Back when my grandparents were alive it was a roast all three days but this is much better 😊

Delphinepony · 31/12/2023 12:44

It's not a thing here. Just a normal day. Sorry you're feeling depressed @TheGoodTypeOfLoser

SgtJuneAckland · 31/12/2023 12:44

Cheese , crackers, olives, pate , charcuterie etc with fizz for dinner this evening.
Tomorrow I've got a large gammon that needs cooking so will do that with Boulanger potatoes (bung them in and forget them while we go for a walk on the beach) and some veg. The gammon will then be used up over the week for lunches and DH has his eye on ham egg and chips for dinner later in the week when I'm out late

CatamaranViper · 31/12/2023 12:44

Burgers in this house!

FuckinghellthatsUnbelievable · 31/12/2023 12:46

No we are all fooded out I think. Today for lunch it’s meats cheese and crackers. So standards are pretty low as is.

StaunchMomma · 31/12/2023 12:49

Absolutely not!

It's been a week of roasts, cheese and mince pies - I need a SALAD!! 😂

purplecorkheart · 31/12/2023 12:52

Having a roast duck today as it was taking loads of space in the freezer. Tomorrow will probably be something like pasta, hopefully there will be leftovers to bring to work on Tuesday.

ANiceBigCupOfTea · 31/12/2023 12:56

We arent either. I love a roast but you do get a bit done with it.
DH starts a new job on Tuesday so we are going out to our favourite restaurant tonight for a lovely meal and wine and then tomorrow we are dry Jan and back on keto so it will be a very sensible day for us.

Ejismyf · 31/12/2023 12:58

We will be having Lentil Soup, Steak Pie with roast potatoes and veg and Sticky Toffee pudding but I've just got back from being abroad over Xmas so don't feel run down from the Xmas madness.

festivetinseling · 31/12/2023 13:01

We are having a roast today, because it's a Sunday anyway.

Tomorrow will be freezer tapas!

Pugdays · 31/12/2023 13:02
