I love to get the decorations down on Boxing Day and get back to normal.
A bit of a clean and a good reset.
Ready to roll my sleeves up and get stuck in!

Absolutely not. Love my tree. Stays up til 12th night - sometimes longer 🤦🏻‍♀️

Chilicabbage · 26/12/2023 06:52

No. It's still Christmas Confused

SnapdragonToadflax · 26/12/2023 06:53

This can only be a goady thread, no-one takes their tree down on Boxing Day.

When did you put up the tree?

UnimaginableWindBird · 26/12/2023 06:54

I've only just put mine up, and it will stay up for all of Christmas.

Anonymouse10 · 26/12/2023 06:54

I take mine down 27th

When did you put up the tree?

About 2nd week of December I think.

No, mine stays up til NYD or just after normally. Christmas part 2 today!

My friend used to always take hers down boxing day too. Is it real? and shedding too much?

ImCamembertTheBigCheese · 26/12/2023 06:57

Why bother putting it up in the first place if you are taking it down today.

I hope you don't have kids.

Boxing day is a tad early! Mine will probably come down Thurs or Fri. I like to start the new year with the house all clean and tidy.

thefallen · 26/12/2023 07:01

I do know one woman who insists on taking her tree down on Boxing Day. She's quite odd and doesn't seem to care that her kids would like it up longer.

We are the same as that's the traditional way.

Edited

It goes up because my family ( yes I do have dc) like it in the run up and on Christmas day.

Ours stays up until new year at least- though it didn’t make it up at all this year for various reasons.

It seems a bit sad to be working on ending Christmas already. It’s still Christmas holidays.

Happyme2024 · 26/12/2023 07:04

I've done this before, but it was because I'd had a really shit Xmas and wanted to move on.

We'll take it down in the next few days as we need the space back and I love a clean slate for the new year. I have enjoyed the tree this year, but it's done now!!

cryinglaughing · 26/12/2023 07:07

Mine usually goes up Christmas Eve to put the presents under, down Boxing Day.
This year I had a really busy Christmas Eve, so it didn't get put up.

I feel liberated 🤣

Umph · 26/12/2023 07:08

Boxing Day is still very much Christmas in our household.

I think part of the problem is the trend for putting the tree up ridiculously early. End of Nov/beginning of Dec is too soon IMO. People have forgetting that the 12 days of Christmas START on Christmas Day.

I agree.
I cannot understand keeping a tree up into the new year/ till the 12th night when you're back at work and everything.
Normal life resumes here tomorrow.

It’s still Christmas. How depressing but equally controlling.

Theoldwoman · 26/12/2023 07:11

Yep, down first thing on BD. Hate the clutter and can’t wait to get my house back in order.

Lots and lots of people do.

eurochick · 26/12/2023 07:12

I thought this was going to be about storm damage. Who on earth takes down their Christmas tree on Boxing Day?!?

MumblesParty · 26/12/2023 07:12

As an adult I’d happily have all the decorations disappear on Boxing Day, but I think it’s really harsh on kids. I remember as a child being sad when the Christmas period was over, but at least it lasted till New Year’s Day. If my Mum had whipped the decorations down on Boxing Day it would have really upset me.
