The number of MPs currently on suspension for varieties of possibly criminal dodginess might suggest it's not a great time to trash the legal profession. Many of them will be looking for representation, hopefully very soon. Best to remember your manners politicos.

I see grow the economy is going well this morning with headlines about a potential recession.

Feeling a bit naughty this morning...

Excl: Rishi Sunak reneges on pledge to open large-scale asylum accommodation site in his constituency.

In March he said he was "showing leadership" by including Catterick Barracks in Richmond on a list of sites to be repurposed for thousands of migrants:

That was predictable. The security would be a nightmare, Catterick Garrison is huge.

Very true.

However I'd love to see a rebuttal when they are defended with people asking if their lawyer is a "lefty lawyer?"

The Home Office has now put out a (further) clarification on the timeline of this increase to the minimum income threshold (after backlash from right-wing Tories).

The minimum income threshold will rise to £38,700 by spring 2025.

That makes Labour's position even more important

Oh for Gods sakes - they rushed through this policy to try to keep Jenrick and pals onside. Judging from the immediate flurry of questions & conflicting answers they didn't know what the fuck they were doing and thrashed about.
They've rowed back and Gullis etc criticism so they've u-turned again.

Terrible way to govern. They are making decisions which impact futures.

What happened to long term decisions etc.

"I don't recall the phrase long term decisions for a brighter future".

Notonthestairs · 22/12/2023 19:35

Short term unworkable impractical temporary decisions to try to stave off internal rebellions (which are coming anyway).

Same thinking that turned out so well for Cameron and May.

newnamethanks · 22/12/2023 20:17

Have any of you ever sat on a committee for a small charitable organisation? The petty squabbles. The obsessive correction of occasional minor typographic errors in the minutes. Factions forming into fighting units. It's what this feckless, useless government reminds me of. Not fit to run the village flower show comes to mind. And wheres that petty cash tin? It was here a moment ago.

RafaistheKingofClay · 22/12/2023 23:46

Maybe they need to bring Jackie Weaver in.

It's pathetic.
Knee jerk reactions and fire fighting the whole time. With no thought for what the public want..... a General Election

BIossomtoes · 23/12/2023 10:34

I doubt some of them ever had a moral compass or even know what one looks like.

The thing about moral compasses is that they are often frequented by woke eating tofus.

DuncinToffee · 23/12/2023 12:00

Someone must be trolling them, surely

Rishi was spotted buying mince pies for key workers on his way back to Richmond. I’m sure they’d rather have a payrise.

newnamethanks · 23/12/2023 13:36

How many club card points for a vote? Can you make it worth our while Rishi?

I hope it was in Booths.

Saucery · 23/12/2023 17:17

Booths donate a considerable number of mince pies to organisations such as Scouts for Christmas fairs etc. So I also hope it was Booths and they charged him for them.

BIossomtoes · 23/12/2023 17:43

I hope they charged him double and made a donation to charity, he wouldn’t notice.

An M&S in London I think.
I think he got 6 boxes. That is not many mince pies per key worker. We may get a crumb each.

Is it tax deductable?
We know he doesn't like to pay his fair share.
