Paris Hilton surrogacy

"Surrogacy was a difficult decision to make," she admitted.
"I would have loved that experience of growing the baby in your tummy and feeling the kicks and all of those exciting moments, but my life has just been so public," she continued. "So even though the baby is biologically mine and Carter's, we decided to have a surrogate carry him."

What does that even mean ? What does being in the public eye have to do with carrying your own child ?

I think she is having a surrogate because she couldn’t conceive . So not out of fashion or not wanting to be pregnant

Its not all wealthy people passing it onto poorer people.

Some women are not able to carry their own babies. And some surrogates really love the process. I read articles about women who do surrogacy. They say they really want to help others and love the process

I@RealBigBarbie Erm no, I created this post because I did not get how being famous stops you from carrying your own child.

I don't really agree with surrogacy in the majority of circumstances.

However, I also don't think she owes you or anyone else an explanation as to why she didn't feel comfortable being pregnant in the public eye either.

I know a couple who had a really devastating late loss in what was otherwise a very healthy pregnancy and because she worked in a very high profile and social job she struggled massively to deal with people continously asking her how things were going, how was the baby, what happened etc etc. She ended up coming out of work altogether as a result. I have felt endlessly sorry for celebrities who have had to go through very public losses because the public and paps feel in some way entitled to that pain and information. For all we know she has a medical issue that could have made that a likely reality for her. When I thought I was losing ds (thankfully it was just a hematoma) I wished noone knew so I could tell people what happened in my own time and on my own terms. I think that's something most women should be entitled to. And there's really a limit on how much can be hid from paparazzi anyway.

Just because you can conceive doesn’t mean you can carry a baby to term.

And god forbid a woman might want to keep her fertility and medical issues relatively private

Surrogacy should be banned, it is in many countries. Exploiting women, renting wombs and buying babies is wrong.

How do you know the women have been exploited? It's hardly "buying babies" either.

To be quite frank, it's no-one's business other than the people involved.

Reading between the lines I don’t think that’s the real reason. Kathy Hilton told the media Paris had trouble conceiving and IVF had been unsuccessful. Paris denied that this was true but it seems unlikely her mother would lie about it. She then chose to keep her first child’s surrogacy a secret from her mother until birth so I’d say she felt Kathy couldn’t be trusted!

This is not targeted at Paris but generally celebrities don't tell the public the truth, the viewer get the PR version.
Everything is a monetisation opportunity.

As a general thing I don't really agree with surrogacy but I can't judge another person for decisions they make. I don't know their mind, their circumstances or health issues.

Paris looks to be a loving parent and I wish her family well.

I just can't understand it. If you asked these people 'do you agree with slavery?' they'd say no - but then they go and buy a child and remove it from it's mother. Absolutely disgusting. No humans should be bought or sold.

This is such a good analogy. Someone needs to ask this question everytime a celebrity uses a surrogate.

She has some major MH issues from past abuse, etc. It would be really stressful being hounded. Plus when you can just buy your way to having a baby and not have to deal with it physically it can't be that difficult of a decision!

I disagree with surrogacy but this still seems like a particularly distasteful comment for a woman who was routinely punished as a child with forced cervical examinations

I saw the video where she said she was petrified of giving birth so maybe that’s why. It wasn’t a fertility issue.

Well, imo it just seems like a trend with celebs. The kardashians have done it, well a couple of them. Amber heard did it, there's loads.
I'm not disputing her parenting, I'm sure she loves her children like we all do. I just think it's convenient for celebrities not to destroy their bodies like the rest of us mere mortals have to in order to carry our children

It didn't baffle me, I read it as "My fertility issues are no one's feckin business. IVF treatment is invasive enough, don't want the paparazzi chasing me in and out of the clinic. I don't want published pictures of me on a jogging suit with no make up every time I leave the clinic feeling like crap, this would be detrimental for my mental health and my brand".

Paris doesn't owe me or you any explanation.
