Help me solve this strange mystery?!?!

I’m sorry but something happened last night and I will not move past it until the mystery is solved.

I loaded the dishwasher with the usual plates, cutlery etc and the last thing to be added was a big dish that the lasagne was in. I clearly remember putting it in there as I had to slightly manoeuvre it to get it in (it’s quite a big dish).

Any way………. The cycle finished. The dish is gone. Nowhere to be seen. Wasn’t in the dishwasher when I unloaded it. Not in the house.

What. On. Earth. Is. Going. On.

Either….. 1. I am crazy or 2. The dishwasher ate it.

There is simply no explanation.

Are you a good cook? Maybe he hates your lasagnes and the only way of not eating it again is to make the dish disappear?

@Fannyfiggs thank you, I'm glad someone got the cat reference! 😂

You are very welcome 😁 😂

PortalooSunset · 11/11/2023 18:22

Is it in the oven?

I've done that before.

NorthCliffs · 11/11/2023 18:25

YOUR DP BROKE IT!

Feelingcrappy2 · 11/11/2023 18:25

MYSTERY SOLVED. Although still a mystery. Even more so actually…

Bloody hell. Gutted I’m not the one who found it too considering my efforts ALL day!

It was in our SPARE ROOM. I have absolutely no recollection of going in there with the dish and also.. I 100% remember putting it in the dishwasher. I had to move things around to make space for it. All I can think of is that I usually spray big dishes with something to get the stains off before putting it in the dishwasher. Maybe I’ve completely forgotten that I went in there to get a new spray out. But I definitely didn’t?!

It may be found but the plot only thickens.

If you put it on a hot wash it might have dissolved?🤣

dapsnotplimsolls · 11/11/2023 18:27

Was it clean or not?

FloofCloud · 11/11/2023 18:27

Do you have a fat ginger cat by any chance?

whatausername · 11/11/2023 18:27

Maybe it was your DP but now the joke has gone too far and he can't come clean so he will need to sneak out at 3am and creep along to a neighbour and dump the dish in their bin.

To (dis)prove this you will need to go to all your neighbours tomorrow to search their bins and any surveillance footage that they have.

Feelingcrappy2 · 11/11/2023 18:27

I absolutely did not go in there. This is driving me even more mad. I 100% put it in the dishwasher. Either that or DP has lost the plot and he did it or it is aliens. Must add… the dish is sparkling clean. So it must have been him. It still had marks on it when I cleaned it by hand so that darn thing 100% had been dishwasher washed.

Was the dish in the spare room clean or dirty? So now you're looking at amnesia/ heavy drinking memory loss/ menopausal madness.

whatausername · 11/11/2023 18:29

Oh. That was anti-climactic :(

Any reason for someone to walk into the spare room whilst emptying the dishwasher? Not realising they've absent mindedly walked with it in hand and left it in there? I do that sometimes (though I'm sleep deprived with a baby right now)

DeadbeatYoda · 11/11/2023 18:32

Your husband broke it when he was getting something else and now he'll never, ever admit it.

Tafaa · 11/11/2023 18:33

As ridiculous as this may sound, do you have a carbon monoxide detector? Might be worth ruling out carbon monoxide poisoning as this can cause confusion, forgetfulness etc. It's probably not this of course but you never know.

Sweetpeasaremadeforbees · 11/11/2023 18:34

Well then it has to be your DH OP. Why he'd do it and why he didn't confess is odd.

PortalooSunset · 11/11/2023 18:34

You/he started emptying the dishwasher then remembered something you/he needed from the spare room. Dish still in hand went in there to get it?

Barleysugar86 · 11/11/2023 17:01

I had a similar dilemma with a missing remote control and the answer turned out to be at the bottom of the laundry hamper.

We had this happen, after a few hours of feverish hunting it was in our biscuit tin 😂

ChardonnaysBeastlyCat · 11/11/2023 18:34

OP, you know all of these threads where everybody says "I still wonder what happened, why didn't OP ever update us"?

Well, after your last updates I wish this would have stayed one of these threads...Sorry! Grin

Lucy377 · 11/11/2023 18:36

Did you take a phone call while emptying the dishwasher?

Jewelspun · 11/11/2023 18:38

Gaslight. 1944

Your husband is plotting to make you think you've gone insane.

Ok so even though DP is saying that this os 100% not the case, i’m saying it IS the case.

The clean dish was underneath a new pack of toilet rolls, so…

I left a brand new pack of 9 toilet rolls sat in the hall and I remember I asked him to put them in the spare room.

So even though he is saying he never touched the dishwasher, he must have opened it, taken the dish out, closed it when I asked him to put the toilet rolls away and took the dish with him into the spare room.

This makes sense to me, although he is now absolutely fuming because he said he never touched the dishwasher! Bizarre.

Does he often have difficulty admitting when he is in the wrong?
