Help me solve this strange mystery?!?!

Feelingcrappy2 · 11/11/2023 14:14

I’m sorry but something happened last night and I will not move past it until the mystery is solved.

I loaded the dishwasher with the usual plates, cutlery etc and the last thing to be added was a big dish that the lasagne was in. I clearly remember putting it in there as I had to slightly manoeuvre it to get it in (it’s quite a big dish).

Any way………. The cycle finished. The dish is gone. Nowhere to be seen. Wasn’t in the dishwasher when I unloaded it. Not in the house.

What. On. Earth. Is. Going. On.

Either….. 1. I am crazy or 2. The dishwasher ate it.

There is simply no explanation.

It will be under something. My place is shocking for this. Hiding things under things.

The second you stop thinking about it, it will appear!

KittensandPerverts · 11/11/2023 14:45

Whatever happened, whether you ever find out or not, will be a simple explanation. Husband broke it for example. It definitely isn't aliens, ghosts or a glitch in the matrix.

Could it have broken and the pieces are lying at the bottom of the dishwasher?

This was my first thought as well. Could it have broken into pieces small enough to drain away or is that a stupid suggestion? I'm not that familiar with dishwashers. Are these dishes made of safety glass? Do they break into tiny pieces like a car windscreen?

Possumzilla · 11/11/2023 14:47

I've got to know how this turns out

Feelingcrappy2 · 11/11/2023 14:48

@ElleLeopine

  • Circa 7pm dishwasher cycle starts (loaded and turned on by myself)
  • 8.30pm cycle ends (unloaded by myself about 15 mins later)

Between 7pm - 8:45pm, I left the room twice for approx 2-3 mins each time, once was in the middle of the cycle and once between the cycle ending and me unloading it.

I agree the ONLY explanation is that it has something to do with DP but he is absolutely adamant he knows nothing and usually he would laugh if he was hiding something or joking about. He wouldn’t be able to play along this good or for this long. In fact, he is actually starting to get really annoyed at me for still trying to solve it!

I need to know!

Also, I have 2 of those Dolmio Lasagne dishes.... are they valuable?!

Feelingcrappy2 · 11/11/2023 14:53

My friend made me laugh, she is a writer for one of the papers, she said she will do whatever it takes to get ‘lasagne gate’ to the headlines if isn’t solved by Monday.

I thought everyone knew that we live in a multi-dimensional Universe. And that these dimensions are capable of interacting with each other in strange and mysterious ways.

Obviously, one of those dimensions is full of kleptomaniacs who have figured out how to steal our stuff.

Sorry OP, it reminds me of this story https://www.dailymail.co.uk/news/article-2602504/amp/Pensioners-72-75-charged-900-Virgin-watching-porn-claim-didnt-order-five-year-battle-media-giant.html
Husband insisting innocence despite all evidence to the contrary Blush

HoHoHoliday · 11/11/2023 15:06

Is it a glass dish? Is it possibly sitting right there in the dishwasher in front of you but you haven't seen it because it's glass?

BangaloreLulu · 11/11/2023 15:15

Is there any way it could have slid from where you put it and is sitting vertically up against the back of the dishwasher, and you can't see it because it's glass and brilliantly clean?

(But I am suspicious of your DP anyone who thinks you should have given up looking for it by now when it clearly CAN'T have gone missing without "help"!)

Jewelspun · 11/11/2023 15:19

Do you have a cat?

cornflower21 · 11/11/2023 15:20

Deadringer · 11/11/2023 14:36

Check your outside bin, I agree with pp that your dh broke it and hid the evidence.

Absolutely this.

BrieAndChilli · 11/11/2023 15:22

Check the back of the dishwasher.
heck t try he cupboard in case it was cleaned and put away
Check the bin, fridge etc. could you have gone to the loo or somewhere with it in your hand and put it down?

ThisIsntThe80sPat · 11/11/2023 15:23

Sounds like the ghost who stole the grandfather clock chains has moved on to your house after being banished. It's going for lasagne dishes now...

Lucy377 · 11/11/2023 15:24

Have you a utility room? Is the dish jammed on the roof of the dishwasher?
Was it in the top rack or the bottom rack?
Had you had a glass of wine with dinner 😎😀and then left it outside the back door to 'soak' then forgot?

Pinkitydrinkity0 · 11/11/2023 15:25

Check your oven!!?

EmpressaurusOfCats · 11/11/2023 15:26

Run the dishwasher again & see if it re-materialises.

ScottBakula · 11/11/2023 15:27

Yep this ^^

AlisonDonut · 11/11/2023 15:28

I put some water in an ice cube tray a while back and it disappeared. Could not find that bastard anywhere.

Until I came to defrost the freezer and it was frozen to the bottom of the freezer roof.

Anyway have you checked the oven?

So going by this timeline. The cycle finished, you unloaded it 15 minutes later, and in that 15 minutes you left the room for only 2-3 minutes?
Even if you DP decided to unload, picked up the dish and dropped it, you presumably would have heard it drop/break and he wouldn't have had time to clear it up and dispose in 2-3 minutes.
Either it's still in the dishwasher, or you didn't actually put it in to begin with. Perhaps you tried, rearranged, decided it didn't quite fit and took out at the last minute?
Is it in the fridge, left out somewhere, soaking somewhere?
Did you definitely have lasagne yesterday?

Tiredmum100 · 11/11/2023 15:29

Maybe it's still in the oven?

Theunamedcat · 11/11/2023 15:30

I lost a chopping board once for 3 years? I found it when I redecorated it was wedged behind the radiator resting on the skirting board don't know how it got there but it was white on a white wall behind a chair so it was completely missed I cleaned the skirting boards regularly too so I assumed it slipped down further just before I found it because it wasn't there before!

Do you have a cat?

Do you think the cat nicked it?

GonnaGetGoingReturns · 11/11/2023 15:34

Have you checked bins, either inside or ones you put outside?
