Can you drink a whole bottle of Prosecco?

Most Friday nights I drink a bottle of Prosecco to myself. Sometimes I have a gin and Tonic as well, or a glass of wine. I often have a nice relaxed feeling but don’t feel drunk. Is this a bad sign? I feel like Prosecco is easier to drink and goes down quicker and easier than wine. I am going to do dry January and go until the end of lent, but am enjoying drinking what is probably too much at the moment….but it’s easy to tell myself this is my normal and rationalise it, so checking in with other people as to whether this is a worrying amount of booze….

Down in one.

Celebrationsnakes · 10/11/2023 22:26

I'd be very drunk on a bottle of prosecco.

39and · 10/11/2023 22:28

Yes easily. I usually share one bottle with my husband though.

Jeez no! Prosecco gives me a weird heavy feeling in my chest.

i now only drink vodka and tonic or soda water. Or an alcohol free beer

caringcarer · 10/11/2023 22:28

I can drink a bottle of wine/Prosecco. DH not keen on Prosecco so I drink it or it gets wasted.

babbi · 10/11/2023 22:29

I’d be drunk on 2 glasses 🥂
To be honest I would be vomiting 🤮 for days if I drank a bottle .

ThePenIsBlue · 10/11/2023 22:29

This is making me feel a lot better😁

Yes. If I open a bottle of wine or prosecco I will have most if not all of it.

HardcoreLadyType · 10/11/2023 22:29

This would count as “binge drinking”, even if that’s all you drink all week. (You don’t mention other days.)

Perhaps you should switch to something less drinkable, in order to cut back a bit?

I think this is it - hubby doesn’t like Prosecco and so I like a glass on Friday and Saturday and so end up drinking the whole
bottle as really it doesn’t keep that well.

No I'd be too drunk to stand. Prosecco is also disgusting.

TeenLifeMum · 10/11/2023 22:31

No, I seem to be allergic as after one glass I’ll be vomiting a few hours later. A bottle of Sauvignon blanc however, yes. One is my max but I’m not a regular drinker and I’d need to have lemonade between and have had a big meal.

Jewelanemone · 10/11/2023 22:31

I can easily drink a bottle of prosecco and not be too drunk.

However I've started drinking English sparkling wine instead. I prefer it (not as harsh and acidic) and a bottle lasts me longer for some reason.

HangTheJib · 10/11/2023 22:31

Yes I could. It's got a lighter alcohol content than most wines. I prefer cava though.

39and · 10/11/2023 22:32

They sell some Prosecco in half bottles. If I'm not sharing it I'll buy the half bottle to avoid drinking more.

whatchagonnado · 10/11/2023 22:32

Half a bottle is perfect; a bottle and I'm starting to feel unwell

Sanch1 · 10/11/2023 22:32

All the time. Just finished my Friday night bottle. Won't even notice tomorrow I've had it but currently feel slightly lovely and tipsy 😊

RubyGemStone · 10/11/2023 22:32

I could, but wouldn't enjoy it!

If you mean where would I range between tipsy and paralytic, probably closer to tipsy.

I mainly don't drink much as I prefer to eat my calories and I think it unwise as I've an addictive personality at the best of times.

countvoncount · 10/11/2023 22:32

I can manage a bottle, feel fairly squiffy and burp for England

LadyGeorginaSmythe · 10/11/2023 22:33

Regularly drink a bottle of prosecco to myself. Makes me feel relaxed but not drunk. In fact, I'm on my last glass from a bottle tonight.
I definitely know that I drink too much and I need to cut down/stop totally, so dry January sounds like a good idea.
If you're only drinking it once a week I don't think that sounds problematic.

Hardly, a bottle of Prosecco only has 9 units in it!

Changingplace · 10/11/2023 22:34

Yeah I’d easily have a bottle of Prosecco or wine to myself and not feel massively drunk, crack on OP it’s the weekend 😄

Mazuslongtoenail · 10/11/2023 22:34

Yep.

HoppingPavlova · 10/11/2023 22:35

Unfortunately, yes. I could do a cocktail, then bottle of prosecco while watching Netflix, then head to bed and have a good nights sleep. That’s my dream Fri/Sat night actually.

MistletoeAndWhiteWine · 10/11/2023 22:35

Fizzy alcohol seems to get me super drunk for some weird reason, after a glass my head is spinning, I blame the bubbles in it.
