Caught up with you all today. I am immensely grateful for these threads. Thank you!
I am not really an X/ FB poster BUT today has really gone the way I thought. So I have answers many posts!!!
There is absolutely nothing from the GOV ( ok Sunak did a rubbish nothing kind of thing earlier)
WhereTF IS Suella ??
I ( can't believe I am saying this ) but at least Patel would have a statement to include the word appallin'
Also a huge thankyou @DuncinToffee as our prospective MP ( he is on a chicken run) asked what we thought of the Kings speech and I used your numbers from last thread.
We are living in sh* t times right now ☹️

Never has the Cenotaph, in its 103 years of standing sentry on Whitehall, been “defended” on Armistice Day by a Port Vale fan supping a can of Stella Artois

Interesting that nearly all the arrests were of Tommy Twelvenames and his merry crew (i.e. Counter protesters)

Braverman, this is on you. Let's hope we see the back of her next week. Let her shout her hate from the back benches. The SC Rwanda decision is on Wednesday, it's indicated she will be sacked before then. Because if Rwanda goes through, she is strengthened, and if it goes against Rwanda, it looks like he's sacking her because of that.

Far-right ‘defends’ the Cenotaph to the echo of home secretary’s words

Tension built all week about the Gaza march on Armistice Day. In the end, the far-right sparked violence. Then huge peaceful crowds surged through London

Sunak stood by and did nothing

Kuensberg has Dorries opining on her panel on BBC. Bloody hell.

I was just coming on here to say this... WTAF. She is a complete loose cannon, she isn't an MP any more and yet BBC seem to think she should have a voice?

God help us

BIossomtoes · 12/11/2023 09:27

Farage has never been an MP but he’s made numerous appearances on Question Time. The BBC love these people - Rees Mogg’s on QT on Thursday. 😱

RafaistheKingofClay · 12/11/2023 09:40

Grant Shapps on Sky news has answered the question about whether Braverman will still be Home Sec in a week with ‘a week’s a long time in politics.’

I think Rishi has done worse than nothing here. Doing nothing would involve a more typical statement condemning the violence and thanking the police. Instead it was more ‘there was trouble from both sides’ and setting out his expectations that crimes from both sides should be prosecuted equally and that he would be meeting the Met commissioner to make his expectations clear. He’s just fanned the flames of the article Suella wrote claiming that police police different protests differently.

MrTiddlesTheCat · 12/11/2023 09:45

Regarding this Rwanda nonsense, if a Russian anti-Putin activist rocked up in Dover seeking asylum, would they be deported to Rwanda? Or is it just brown people?

You are right, he has done worse than nothing

Sunak was happy to hold the police responsible for anything that could have gone wrong

So Trumpian when he said 'there are very fine people on both sides' when white supremacists rioting caused death and injuries.

DuncinToffee · 12/11/2023 11:43

'trouble on both sides' is becoming a theme on quite a few Braverman and similar threads now.

Easier than to admit you were wrong in defending the indefensible.

Yes, Trump defenders say the same.

I can't be bothered with the aibu Gove thread but the defences there are very similar to Shapps'

Absolutely

cakeorwine · 12/11/2023 12:39

The issue is not just what happened but also the fact that a Home Secretary should not have made those comments publicly in the first place.

Notonthestairs · 12/11/2023 14:25

Any word from Braverman?
Seems perverse that she so much to say about so many issues over the last week but is suddenly quiet.

newnamethanks · 12/11/2023 15:30

I did think she might have materialised at the front of the EDL? Squad waving Penny Mordaunt's sword and chanting FIGHT! An opportunity missed Suella, wherever can you be?

BIossomtoes · 12/11/2023 15:53

She threw the grenade then ran away. Is anyone surprised?

DuncinToffee · 12/11/2023 16:36

she has now tweeted, attached in link

No mention of the fact that it was the far right... high on the toxic language of this government and its apologists .... who rampaged through London yesterday, spreading fear and chaos - while hurling projectiles at our police.

Braverman is making a bad situation worse.

I think I’m going to have to walk away from the threads I was on yesterday.
