Daily Mail link (sorry, but they seem to have been a bit reasonable over the Israel/Gaza thing. Maybe because they hate Jews as much as Muslims? Who knows?)

https://www.dailymail.co.uk/news/article-12737699/Palestine-demo-woman-arrested-anti-Semitic-banner-Hitler-Israel.html

'Grotesquely likening Gaza to Auschwitz, or Benjamin Netanyahu to Adolf Hitler, abhorrently attempts to state that the Israeli government is somehow comparable to the Nazis.'

Personally I think comparing Gaza to Auschwitz is a bit over the top. Comparing Gaza to a much larger Warsaw ghetto is probably more accurate. I can't really fault the Netanyahu/Hitler and the Nazi/Israeli Government comparisons though.

I can't remember who it was who was slated for saying "the abused have become the abusers" but in my opinion they were spot on.

Woman arrested carrying 'anti-Semitic banner'

Police arrested this woman at a pro-Palestine march after she was seen carrying a banner comparing Israel's actions in Gaza with the Nazis while crossing Vauxhall Bridge earlier today.

Suella's Thugs are warming up nicely. I would never have foreseen the far right coming out to defend Israel and to support a Home Secretary of Asian origin. Their poor twisted senses, no wonder they're a bit muddled. Still, never mind, any excuse for a punch up.

Totally agree it's a shitshow

National trust elections have voted in the recommended candidates - two green fingers to Tufton Street & Restore Trust.

Yes, I was very pleased to see this #scones

Piggywaspushed · 11/11/2023 17:54

It's like that bit in Animal Farm when Napoleon just pulls a strange face and the dogs all appear and rip out a sheep's throat iirc.

Notonthestairs · 11/11/2023 18:02

Any word from Braverman? Something that might ease tensions perhaps?

She is a bit like the kid at school, who knows all the buttons to press to create a fight and then mysteriously disappears just before fists start flying.

BIossomtoes · 11/11/2023 18:18

Thanks for the new thread @DuncinToffee. This bloody government is making me lose the will to live. How much longer do we have to endure it?

OhYouBadBadKitten · 11/11/2023 18:31

Plonking myself on the thread after looking at various twitter threads throughout the day showing far right thuggery in London, incited by Braverman. It feels like yet another dangerous point in our politics.

OhYouBadBadKitten · 11/11/2023 18:32

Why all the deletions on this thread?

Piggywaspushed · 11/11/2023 18:35

Weird! Someone is maybe lurking. No idea.

"I saw a poll saying her personal popularity rating is at 16%. I don't think she's quite the vote winner she and the right wing would like to believe."

Still strikes me as depressingly high.

That probably represents the thicker segment of the Mail, Express and Sun readership.

DuncinToffee · 11/11/2023 18:37

I have been out all day and now trying to catch up with the news, this thread being a good place to start.

Why the deletions?

Don't be silly. She just stokes the fire and then disappears.

She's a coward.

If I recall correctly the deletions were mostly about deletions, so perhaps this will also be deleted?

DuncinToffee · 11/11/2023 19:35

Sunak released a statement which has shades of Trump's 'there are bad people on both sides'

Somehow I think she’d manage to make things worse. She’s probably only a small step away from defending the patriots who came out to defend our British history.

I see Rishi is going to be having a word with the Met. I hope they hand him his arse on a plate.

DuncinToffee · 11/11/2023 20:10

This seems to be her latest idea

https://x.com/PolitlcsUK/status/1723402139676885153?s=20

Suella Braverman has told Rishi Sunak that the only way to save the Tories is to call a snap election on small boats

I thought that was a joke. I guess it's not.

Piggywaspushed · 11/11/2023 20:14

They might manage to get all of their remaining voters on to a few small boats, to be fair.

RafaistheKingofClay · 11/11/2023 20:20

The should certainly manage to get all their MPs on one after an election.

Just realised what’s missing from Rishi’s statement. Any mention of the job the police have done today in really difficult circumstances. That would be usual in these circumstances I’d have thought. No mention of the officers injured either.
