If your DC are back to school tomorrow following half term....

What date do they break up for Christmas?

And was half term earlier than normal?

I'm in North Yorkshire and our schools broke up on Friday with half term this coming week.

Halloween is usually in half term so it seems to be the usual time for us but they aren't breaking up for Christmas until Friday 22nd December, which is the latest it's ever been.

Half term last week, DD1 (secondary) breaks up on Friday 15th Dec (about the earliest I can ever remember!) DD2 (primary) breaks up on Tuesday 19th Dec. Very rare they break up on different days! (Cumbria.)

We're back to school tomorrow, they break up for Christmas on the 15th (will be a half day, too) and go back on the 2nd of Jan.

We're in West Sussex.

Two of mice had last week off, one is academy so two week half term returning on coming Wednesday. Break up half day on 20th December.

West Yorkshire here - most schools in our LA are off this coming week and they finish for Christmas on the 22nd December. My daughter’s school go back on Monday and finish on 15th December but they have 3 weeks at Christmas (independent) This is the first time we’ve been out of sync with the state schools and it’s been a bit annoying tbh!

Breaking up on 15/12 back 02/01. West Sussex. I’m not sure I’m very keen as it means school with start stoking Xmas excitement three or four weeks before the day!

Berkshire. Back to school tomorrow and break up on 15th December which feels really early.

Looking at next year October half term is due to be the following week in our area.

Half term was last week for us. Inset day tomorrow.
Last day of term is 19th December, and new term starts 4th January.

Incidentally, does anyone “in the know” know when October 2024 half term week is in Hertfordshire?

I’m in Scotland but we are back after 2 weeks off tomorrow and break up on the 22nd. Can’t imagine going back on the 2nd of January! We don’t go back until the 8th

Half term is next week, which is late, and then they break up 22 Dec, but I'm working til then, so works for us.

Ours have had this last week off and go back tomorrow. Break up for Christmas on the 22nd Dec which feels really late, I’m sure they finished on the 16th Dec last year.

Half term last week and inset tomorrow. Breaking up 20 Dec 🙌🏻 we always seem to be the latest back in January which is such a drag (all the local schools have different term dates for some reason). I’m sure we broke up for Xmas on the 23rd once recently though!!

Edit… how weird that we all say term/school BREAKS UP. Has lost all meaning now.
