Husband wants me to take a lie detector test

My husband I have been together for almost 20 years, we have two young kids at home. I started a job around a year ago- my husband has never meet anyone from my job but is completely jealous of the few men that work in my office. He is convinced I have cheated on him. So much so he has asked me to take a lie detector test. He doesn’t believe me when I tell him nothing has happened. It is destroying our lives. I will take the test because I have nothing to hide but I am heartbroken that it has come to this.

If this is a complete change in behaviour, I'd also question if there's any history of mental health or if you think it's possible he might be using drugs? I'd leave and tell him you won't be back until he's engaging actively with counselling and the gp.

Threatening or insinuating that he's going to hurt himself unless you do something can still be a form of emotional abuse and control. Is there anywhere else you can stay for now, the speed with which you're suggesting this is escalating is concerning.

I wonder if you eve watched Jeremy Kyle. My DH studied psychology at Uni and reckons as long as the person stays calm those machines can be manipulated. It was the cause of Jeremy's programme to be cancelled as the guest went and took his own life. Your partner is I have to say pathetic. It could well be him who is doing any cheating.
