Actors who are perfectly cast

Following on from the discussion about actors who are not, who are the ones who are?

To me, Gone Girl was beautifully cast. Ben Affleck as Nick, Rosamund Pike as Amy, all of the minor characters...

Ryan Reynolds as Deadpool obviously.

@SerafinasGoose I'd definitely be up for a TV/movie location porn thread! I'm always hitting the pause button and having a Google.

I watched Mare of East Town before I watched Happy Valley. Should say I enjoyed both, but was quite pissed off when I watched the latter as surely Mare is a rip off of it?

A bit like Only Murders in the Building feels like a bit of a rip off of Richard Osman books?

Ben Schnetzer as Mark Ashton in Pride.

Definitely! I honestly had no idea he is actually American.

Dominic West as Fred West in appropriate adult, he was so so good. I wasn't that aware of him tbh, but he's also really good in the wire. I also saw a video on YouTube of him and his wife doing a tour of their house and was shocked how posh and luvvie he is (in a good way) awesome actor.

I like him as an actor too. But you're definitely new to him, google 'Dominic West and Lily James' lol see what that does to your image of him.

Robert Hardy AND Samuel West as Siegfried Farnon in All Creatures Great and Small. I thought Robert Hardy's shoes would be impossible to fill but Samuel West is also perfect in the role.

marshmallowfinder · 29/11/2023 05:59

Craig Cash as Dave in Royle Family.

HeraSyndulla · 29/11/2023 06:40

John Thaw as DCI Morse. Bill Nighy as Charles Paris. Peter Cushing as Grand Moff Tarkin. Jeremy Brett as Sherlock Holmes. Michael Caine as Charlie Croker. Helena Bonham Carter as Lucy Honeychurch. Dame Maggie Smith as Jean Brodie and the Dowager Countess of Grantham. Anthony Hopkins in The World's Fastest Indian. Jim Parsons as Sheldon Cooper..... enough already !.

MissBattleaxe · 29/11/2023 07:43

Cillian Murphy as Tommy Shelby. Perfect!

Badbadbunny · 29/11/2023 08:11

Olivia Newton John as Sandy in Grease.

DH and I were just saying that Adam Groff and his father in Sex Education could easily be a real-life father and son.

I came here to say that these two were such a good choice. Glad someone else agrees!

JamSandle · 29/11/2023 19:24

Kyra Scoladario as Effy in Skins. A mesmerising actress.

Watched Nyad on netflix the other night with Jodie Foster and Annette Benning and at the end they showed clips of the real Bonnie and Diana and I thought wow they did a great job casting these two!

Gassylady · 19/01/2024 09:18

Obvs a huge fan but Sofia Helin as Saga Noren in The Bridge. Clemence Posey in the UK/ France version is ok but once you've seen Sofia Helin play her, nobody else comes close.

Bluevelvetsofa · 19/01/2024 15:12

Gary Oldman in Slow Horses.
