Following on from the discussion about actors who are not, who are the ones who are?

To me, Gone Girl was beautifully cast. Ben Affleck as Nick, Rosamund Pike as Amy, all of the minor characters...

Ryan Reynolds as Deadpool obviously.

Oldsu · 14/10/2023 04:04

Jeremy Brett was the best Sherlock ever

savethatkitty · 14/10/2023 04:23

Anna Friel as marcella

Bedbynoon · 14/10/2023 04:29

Going back a bit here but Megan Follows in the Anne of Green Gables series was exactly like I imagined her from the books. Ditto with Marrilla, Rachel Lynde and Matthew.

I’m so glad for the mentions of Joan Hickson in this thread - I’d never seen her and have just watched the first two episodes of The Body In The Library and am thoroughly enjoying it. Also pleased to see Moray Watson in it, I’ve liked him ever since I saw him in Catweazle. Plus a lot of faces I can almost but not quite recognize. 😄

Another Joan Hickson and Jeremy Brett fan here.
The Amanda Root Persuasion is perfectly cast.
Jodie Comer as Villanelle.
Daisy-May Cooper and Charlie Cooper in This Country.
The Bear is also brilliantly cast; the leads are all superlative.

MrsTaytodarling · 14/10/2023 06:18

Freddie Highmore in the good doctor

Chuffaluffa · 14/10/2023 06:19

Ruth Wilson in the BBC’s jane eyre was perfect. Although she’s perfect in everything.

Yes, and David Burke the best Watson! Wish he'd stayed in the series longer.

An absolute yes to Joan Hickson as Miss Marple and David Suchet as Poirot.

In case anyone is unaware, Joan Hickson was considered perfect for the role of Miss Marple by Agatha Christie herself. (After seeing her in a play, Christie wrote to Hickson to say she hoped on day she'd play her "dear Miss Marple”. )

Not sure how true this bit isbut apparently Joan Hickson herself when offered the role wasn't so sure she was right for the role. If that's true, thankfully she changed her mind!

DH and I were just saying that Adam Groff and his father in Sex Education could easily be a real-life father and son.

I came on to say this. They just look so alike!

sashh · 14/10/2023 07:46

Alan Rickman in every part he has ever played.

TrumpetOfTheMatriarchy · 14/10/2023 07:49

Tom hardy playing both of the kray twins in legend was superb. Also, Edward Norton and Naomi Watts in the painted veil.
