Sunak can control Dowden, he is like a loyal puppet

Tugenhat would be my choice from them.

Don't agree with him 100% of the time but he's calm and reliable to deliver messages well and clearly.

BIossomtoes · 09/11/2023 20:58

cakeorwine · 09/11/2023 20:52

Sunak’s resignation as chancellor was the equivalent of that moment.

L1ttledrummergirl · 09/11/2023 21:07

Tugendhat would be the best of the bunch, but if he wants to be taken seriously as a politician in the future, he needs to stay as far away from this cabinet as possible.

RafaistheKingofClay · 09/11/2023 21:08

Must be time for Shapps to get a new job. He’s been in his current one for a few weeks.

MrTiddlesTheCat · 09/11/2023 21:16

I can't stand Tugenhat. He totally took me in when he was spouting absolute nonsense about small nuclear reactors. It scares me that someone can sound so knowledgeable and convincing when they're talking absolute shite.

We are running out or thread, any title suggestions that won't offend?

Suella v Sunak : the final countdown

Notonthestairs · 09/11/2023 22:10

Anyone else immediately start humming The Final Countdown?
We are leaving together,
But still it's farewell
And maybe we'll come back
To earth, who can tell

IClaudine · 09/11/2023 22:12

I had the tune in my head when I wrote it!

RafaistheKingofClay · 09/11/2023 23:07

Nice responsible headline for the front of tomorrow’s DM. No way this will fan the flames of the fire leaky sue lit.

Surprise!!

A company run by a Tory donor has won an £11.55m contract to supply temporary classrooms to schools affected by the RAAC crisis, the Mirror can reveal.

Pretty sure The Mail is absolutely thrilled by events of this week.

This is all down to Braverman, she is inciting hate.
Elon Musk has reinstated Tommy Robinson who was banned from Twitter years ago and the delightful Katie Hopkins too
Robinson has called out to march from his cronies from EDL, alongside football fans. What annoys me is, the Palestinian march is arranged nowhere near the Cenotaph and I believe in the afternoon not morning. But here we are...

What I don't understand is that the March for Palestine is prinicipally as I understand it calling for a ceasefire. Surely that is pretty appropriate on Remembrance weekend?

Piggywaspushed · 10/11/2023 07:02

On a point of order it' not 'football fans'. It's the Football Boys who are a hooligan chapter, essentially.

Sorry, yes, badly worded by me! I was posting on my phone, and lost the link, it is indeed 'Football Boys'.

Saucery · 10/11/2023 07:10

It is. But not in the eyes of the EDL who like to glom onto anything to do with the armed forces/poppies/remembrance. This time they have the backing of the Home Secretary, which must be tremendously exciting for them.

itsgettingweird · 10/11/2023 07:20

She's incited people to come March un peacefully and democratically and cause clashes and riots.

Just do she can say "I told you so".

There are no depths that woman will not steep too Angry

IClaudine · 10/11/2023 07:58

She will also then have an excuse to ban the marches.

But maybe she will get sacked today. You never know.

UK version of the Proud Boys?

Probably!

He has put himself in a bind by appointing her in the first place.
Sack her and the letters of no confidence start arriving in greater numbers from that wing of the party.
Don't sack her and the letters of no confidence start arriving in greater numbers from the more centralist wing of the party, although perhaps being more aware they realise that another undemocratic PM appointment wouldn't do them any favours.

Perhaps he could go for the demotion option to wherever she can do least harm.

Passepartoute · 10/11/2023 09:39

Notonthestairs · 09/11/2023 19:04

Interesting timing? 👀

Am I the only one thinking there is a possible link between @SuellaBraverman forcing @RishiSunak to sack her as #HomeSecretary before @UKSupremeCourt delivers #Rwanda judgment next Wednesday …?

Please note I have no idea whether they would get a copy of the judgement in advance!

The parties will get a copy of the judgment before it is formally pronounced. It's routine to release it to the lawyers to check in case the judges have made any embarrassing factual mistakes.
