"I am confused by the statement that Braverman's comments "may" be part of a leadership campaign.
I didn't think that was in doubt?"
Ah no, what I meant was her desire to put clear water between her brand and that of Cleverly's, Badenoch's or Mordaunt's - it's not just Braverman jockeying for the next leadership role. The party is being pulled between multiple internal campaigns and no doubt promises of jobs/power after the next election.
Meanwhile the Times are reporting -
"Several fringe far-right groups have called for their supporters to stage a counterprotest in London to ensure “respect is shown” to the Cenotaph.
The six groups organising Saturday’s pro-Palestinian march have insisted they will not go near the monument.
Tommy Robinson, the founder of the English Defence League, has urged “young English men” to travel to London. The Democratic Football Lads Alliance, a network of football supporters associated with the far-right, has also asked followers to travel to the capital this weekend to counter an apparent “threat from the far left and pro-Palestine supporters”.
Looks like the police's job is going to be very difficult this weekend.
