National Front already marched and laid a wreath earlier this week.

"I'm told John Hayes, Suella Braverman's close ally, also posted this in the Common Sense Group whatsapp last night

“Great to see Suella, in the Times, saying the march should have been banned. We must support her...she is our hope.”

*She is our hope - what does that imply?"

John Hayes was who Braverman leaked confidential information too. Well, actually she sent to his wife who is not an MP.

"Get the feeling Rishi Sunak and Suella Braverman will be really disappointed if the march passes off peacefully"

Yes. And the Mail.

I am absolutely terrified of Braverman. I think there are shades of inciting violence in what she's written. It's disgusting, she's so openly and islamophobic. I don't understand how she's got to where she is.

Right-wing and nationalist protesters who engage in aggression are rightly met with a stern response yet pro-Palestinian mobs displaying almost identical behaviour are largely ignored, even when clearly breaking the law.
In her article, Mrs Braverman writes: "I do not believe that these marches are merely a cry for help for Gaza. They are an assertion of primacy by certain groups - particularly Islamists - of the kind we are more used to seeing in Northern Ireland. Also disturbingly reminiscent of Ulster are the reports that some of Saturday's march group organisers have links to terrorist groups, including Hamas."

I hope everything is peaceful on Saturday

Vomit-worthy, all of it. Suella and her band of fans planning a Trump style power grab this weekend? To protect 'the British people and our freedoms' of course. Sickening and warped.

IClaudine · 09/11/2023 09:12

Totally agree Notonthestairs. Braverman is provoking the situation in the hope that there will be trouble. She is sending out a bat signal to troublemakers from all parts of the political spectrum. If she succeeds, then she will ban the marches.

The photo on her FB page with the poppies is nauseating and about as genuine as my cat when it is trying to scrounge a second breakfast. She is not being subtle about her plans for Tory leadership, is she? She is making Sunak look like a complete fool.

God, I hate her.

DuncinToffee · 09/11/2023 09:13

I have only just read what she said bout the 'hate' marches and Northern Ireland

You could be right. You are also right about her Trumpian tactics. She disgusts me.

Yvette Cooper has been granted an urgent question this morning "to ask the home secretary to make a statement on the operational independence of the Metropolitan Police"

I understand No10 DID see Suella Braverman's @thetimes comment piece before it was published and that the Home Office accepted some edits...

Ed Davey, the Lib Dem leader, has joined calls for Suella Braverman to be sacked. He said:

Rishi Sunak must finally act with integrity by sacking his out-of-control home secretary.

Suella Braverman is now putting police officers in harm’s way ahead of far-right protesters flocking to the capital this weekend.

The home secretary’s irresponsible words and foul actions have significantly increased the likelihood of unrest this weekend and the risk of violence towards officers.

Ministers are spending their time fanning the flames of division, instead of bringing communities together. It’s shameful.

IClaudine · 09/11/2023 09:33

I don't suppose anyone has a share token for the Times piece?

IClaudine · 09/11/2023 09:46

No, it doesn't, but thanks for trying.

RafaistheKingofClay · 09/11/2023 09:47

How bad was the stuff that had to be edited out given what made it in?

They seem to be reporting that Braverman is sending a junior minister.

In fairness Braverman is probably preparing her Opinion pieces for the Sunday papers.

NHS waiting list hits new record high of 7.8 million, latest data reveals. Rise in list size was smaller than recent months - up 26k between Aug & Sept. However, it still means list has grown every month since PM made pledge in Jan to have waiting list reducing by 2024

OP posts:
Notonthestairs · 09/11/2023 10:54

What is fascinating about the Braverman piece is that No 10 edited it and Braverman didn't accept all the edits! Not exactly supportive of her PM.

Update

Latest - Understand No10 didn't technically sign off the comment piece, although they did see it and offer edits. Sources also claim the Home Office did not accept all the changes No10 asked for. Hard to see where this leaves Home Secretary and her relationship with PM...

OP posts:
Notonthestairs · 09/11/2023 10:57

I read that the NHS waiting list is a lot higher - closer to 11 million - if you factor in follow up appointments.
