Do you know anyone who has never had Covid?

Most adults I know have had it multiple times, especially people with kids at school. Most kids have had it multiple times. But a lady at work says she and her husband have had it, and they are going to participate in a medical study. And now I just wondered if not having Covid is unusual or whether lots of people have managed to avoid it all this time.

Me. Worked all through lockdown with lots of other people. Went to pubs, restaurants etc as soon as we were able. Went on holidays as soon as was able. Was pretty lax on precautions when I could be. I wonder if there is a medical reason why some people don't get it.

I know loads of people who've never had it, but of course they could have had it and had no/few symptoms.

This is the thing isn't it? My son had it, I only tested him as I was having treatment for cancer and he was in a specific bubble at school for children of parents with compromised immunity. He didn't have a single symptom, was bouncing off the walls as normal. I was genuinely shocked when he tested positive as there was no indication at all. I'm glad I did though. I imagine there are a lot of people who have been entirely asymptomatic.

I was one of the people who was horrifically ill the Christmas before covid officially hit, but have never had it. Tested twice weekly for work. Same for DC.

Yes I know a lot of people who say this. Indeed my daughter was at university at the time and her course had an awful lot of overseas students who returned with "something" after the 2019 Xmas holidays. It absolutely swept through the halls, almost everybody was affected. We will never know, but it was entirely what we now know were Covid symptoms and they had a mini lockdown by February to try and contain it. I remember at the time it seemed a bit OTT. Little did we know....

I’ve had numerous contacts at work with it; been coughed all over by numerous patients and lived with DH who had it and have never had it (I used to do lateral flow tests all the time for work).
I also know a couple of other HCPs who’ve also never had it.

SquirrelFeeder · 05/10/2023 12:10

I've never had it and neither has my DD. We were very careful

GR8GAL · 05/10/2023 12:13

Myself and my SO haven't had it, neither of us is vaccinated.

Jemimapuddleduk · 05/10/2023 12:15

Me! Despite all my family members having it multiple times and me not isolating from them

Blough · 05/10/2023 12:19

I haven't, I've only had 1 cold since 2019, I tested for COVID a few times and it was negative.

TheTempest · 05/10/2023 12:19

I’ve had it twice, everyone else in my house has had it once, except DH who hasn’t had it.

MrsSlocombesCat · 05/10/2023 12:19

One granddaughter had it but her parents, sister, me and my other son have never had it.

DoctorTeeCee · 05/10/2023 12:21

Me.

Rosscameasdoody · 05/10/2023 12:21

My 92 year old mum has never had it. She lives with myself and my partner and we have both had it twice, but despite multiple co-morbidities, mum has never caught it.

Michellebops · 05/10/2023 12:22

Me and my partner have never had it, or my 81 year old mother law.

My brother and his family (4 of them) and countless people in my work.

Not been shielding and took our vaccines when offered.

Just been lucky I guess.

My daughter has had it once and my parents too.

MisgenderedPaul · 05/10/2023 12:23

Me, dh and both adult dc. Never had it. Never had any vaccines either.
All my friends, who had vaccinations have had it at least once.

HaveANiceFuckingDay · 05/10/2023 12:25

My mother hasn't, neither has my middle child

LubaLuca · 05/10/2023 12:25

One of my sons has probably never had it. I've had it twice, maybe three times.

Crunchymum · 05/10/2023 12:32

Me, DP, and 2 out of 3 DC haven't had it. Nor has my dad, my brother, my SIL and thier 4 DC.

My SIL is a teacher.

I must confess the majority of people I know have had it but some haven't.

INeedNewShoes · 05/10/2023 12:36

I'd never had it until last week. That's despite having had numerous opportunities to catch it over the past few years. I've socialised with people and had a text message later that day or the next morning saying they'd tested positive for Covid.

Purplepeopleeaterz · 05/10/2023 12:36

I work in a school and have never tested positive, no colds or coughs either. Not sure that's a good thing as even a cold may be worse now than it was having built up no immune response for that long?

My husband had it last year and we did keep our distance from each other to a point.

StanleyGoodspeed · 05/10/2023 12:43

DH has had it twice, once before vaccines once afterwards, I have had it once, before vaccines DD who lives with us has not had it.

When DH had it for the second time, I woke up one night and he was snoring on me and I was breathing in his breath into my lungs but I did not get it, we were testing every day as it was just when Omicron came out.

Glittertwins · 05/10/2023 12:44

Our household hasn't had it either and we haven't really hidden away, just got on with life.

fuckssaaaaake · 05/10/2023 13:07

Def so many more than they realise lots on here will say no but they may have. I haven't technically but I also assume they i probs had with no symptoms at some point as my daughter had it

barneythedino · 05/10/2023 13:08

Me, DH and lower primary school DS have not had it at all. DH was in work 5 days a week, using public transport there and back during the height of it all. I WFH during the height but now back in the office, DS at school and DD now at the childminders and if we have had it we didn't know about it.

BigMandsTattooPortfolio · 05/10/2023 13:14

Never even had a cold or cough. Been in rude good health for years. I did grow up in a less than sterile environment to put it mildly (muddy farmhouse) and have always had really strong immunity as a result.
