Do you know anyone who has never had Covid?

Most adults I know have had it multiple times, especially people with kids at school. Most kids have had it multiple times. But a lady at work says she and her husband have had it, and they are going to participate in a medical study. And now I just wondered if not having Covid is unusual or whether lots of people have managed to avoid it all this time.

My husband and mom have both never had it. They are literally the only two people I know that haven't had it. It's also crazy because DH shared a bed with me while I had it in December and dd2 had it last week and still he didn't catch it!

Delphinium20 · 05/10/2023 04:42

My daughter and my dad.

MsLavender · 05/10/2023 04:48

My mum says she hasn't but she's had stinking "colds" that I think were covid, she's just shit at testing. My dad hasn't because he's vulnerable so has been cautious in the extreme as he is convinced covid would finish him off, it possibly could.

My DH and I haven’t.

Oblomov23 · 05/10/2023 04:57

Me, Dh, Ds1 and Ds2. Not knowingly. Maybe we did hdvr it, unknowingly? were asymptomatic, but haven't been ill at all during the covid to now period.

lljkk · 05/10/2023 04:58

they were both clear of the antibodies so they really had not ever had Covid.

I didn't think that was possible to detect, because the vaccines cause lots of antibodies, too. So basically, no antibodies = no vaccine, too (?)

Myself

The second time I had it, I had no symptoms at all but had to test because I was about to see someone vulnerable. When my children had it they were both a bit tired for couple of days but otherwise symptomless. We only knew because it coincided with us having to test. I expect lots of people had it without knowing. Most people I know didn’t test very much.

I know some hospital staff who have not yet had it, who worked all through lock down, some on Covid wards.

Me

DisforDarkChocolate · 05/10/2023 06:11

Me and my son.

I think it's more likely we had it but with so few symptoms we didn't think to test, I don't know though.

mathanxiety · 05/10/2023 06:29

Me. Also two DDs living with me.

Theoldwoman · 05/10/2023 06:36

Four of us live here. Our youngest DC20 has never had it, the rest of us had it one time each.

EfficientlyDecluttering · 05/10/2023 07:04

My parents, retired, they stuck to all the lockdown rules but have been out and about socialising ever since. One of my DCs (who tested twice weekly for school when you had to and is now at uni and hasn't had a day's illness in years) and one of my colleagues. I've only had it once, as has my other DC.

Cabbagey · 05/10/2023 07:08

I've also never knowingly had it, despite having lots of close contacts going down with it. I feel my time may be running out because loads of people are off with it at work.

My parents have never had it either.

HelpMeGetThrough · 05/10/2023 07:15

Yes, immediate family, my parents haven't had it and 21 year old son hasn't had it. During the pandemic he was working in a supermarket, then went back to college and now 2nd year Uni. Hasn't even had a hint of it.

LadyChilli · 05/10/2023 07:15

My DS. Unless he was asymptomatic. But it swept through our family, literally every single one of us including grandparents, cousins all had it over the course of a couple of weeks and DS tested negative the entire time then so I suspect he has never had it.

Catsmere · 05/10/2023 07:16

My mother and I haven't had it, and I don't think my sister and BIL have, either (they live in Queensland). We flew interstate during the height of it, took all the precautions, never caught it. I know a few people who've had it once or twice.

NoMor · 05/10/2023 07:18

I've never had it and neither has my eldest son, my younger son has had it twice and my daughter once.

Coastalcreeksider · 05/10/2023 07:26

Yes, me. I haven't had it, one of my closest friends also, her husband, my neighbours, two lots of 90 plus aunties and uncles also haven't had it.

Actually, thinking about it, I seem to know quite a lot of people and relatives who've managed to stay clear.

Dustpantsandbush · 05/10/2023 07:27

My DH my DS and a colleague have never had it.

Hmmthatsgoodchicken · 05/10/2023 07:30

DW never got it even when me and DD had it.
My mum and dad have also never had it.

implantsandaDyson · 05/10/2023 07:32

I haven't had it, neither has my youngest daughter. My husband and two other daughters have had it (two of them have had it twice). I work in a primary school and regularly tested.

NutellaNut · 05/10/2023 07:37

My brother and his wife and also my MIL and FIL haven’t had it. They were all shielding during the pandemic and are jabbed up to the max. They all took a long time to get back to ‘normality’ after covid. In fact, none of them go anywhere where there are large groups of people (concerts, theatre, etc) or on public transport, so maybe that makes a difference.
