Do you know anyone who has never had Covid?

Most adults I know have had it multiple times, especially people with kids at school. Most kids have had it multiple times. But a lady at work says she and her husband have had it, and they are going to participate in a medical study. And now I just wondered if not having Covid is unusual or whether lots of people have managed to avoid it all this time.

Me, everyone else in my family has had it, Mum and Dad were in hospital during the second wave, DS1 had it the same time, DS2 had it when they all went back to school, DD caught it at college, DH had it a year ago.

I also work in a patient facing role and worked with covid positive patients, I have no idea why I haven't had it, I am very unfit/fat/drink too much, I do wonder if my body came into contact with it and just ate it or maybe the alcohol acted as an antimicrobial ? Wink

I know a lot of people who are much fitter/thinner and basically tick a lot more healthy boxes, who have had it several times.

Aren't you less likely to get it if your blood type is O?

I know more people that apparently haven't had it than have! Perhaps it's demographic or lack of testing where I am? It's weird as I live in an area with lots of care homes and an elderly population but luckily we have had no deaths and low hospital admissions. My husband had it Jan 21 and noone else in the house got anything.

menopausalmare · 08/10/2023 20:07

My daughter, although she's been exposed to it on numerous occasions.

Z1hun · 08/10/2023 20:09

My DH has never had it but I've had it 2x

Witchbitch20 · 08/10/2023 20:11

Me.

However the first cold I had after three years of managing to avoid them was awful and absolutely floored me. Did test and it was negative and didn’t have the cough etc.

ellesbellesxxx · 08/10/2023 20:11

My son never tested positive when we were doing the twice weekly LFTs and when the rest of us were tested positive but could have had it asymptomatically maybe

Mariposista · 08/10/2023 20:13

I have officially never had it because I don't test.
Unofficially I think I have had it twice.

Hei253 · 08/10/2023 22:24

My mum has never had it and she is elderly and vulnerable. I had never had it until April this year despite working in schools and visiting family homes.

GG1986 · 08/10/2023 22:57

I work in a high risk job for potentially catching covid. A few of my colleagues haven't had it. I've had it twice, but not caught at work.

ALongHardWinter · 09/10/2023 01:16

Nearly everyone I know has had it at least once, except for 2 friends of mine. Bizzarly, they are complete opposites. One stopped going out at all from the moment the first lockdown started, worked from home throughout, still works from home now. She refuses to use public transport and won't go in supermarkets, has all her shopping delivered. If she does go out anywhere, she still wears a mask. So I'm not really surprised that she's never had it. My other friend, however, was out every day during every lockdown, used public transport, goes in shops, and was very remiss relaxed about wearing a mask, yet she has never caught covid. This is despite being in fairly close contact with me before I knew I had it back in January 2022.

Hart92 · 09/10/2023 05:51

My Nanna 82 has never had it. All her family have had it but we all stayed away from her when ill. There was one time we went away for a family weekend and all for ill and she didn't get it! She has an amazing immune system.

OhhhhhhhhBiscuits · 09/10/2023 05:56

Scientists are looking into genetic links to what can make people "super immune" to covid. I said before I have never had it (proven with blood tests) and I have been surrounded by it and shared a bed with my husband when he was ill with it and had my child ill with it laying all over me. My immune system is normally shocking, I catch colds, tummy bugs etc..... really easily so I'm more convinced it may be genetic rather than my immune system.

AmandasFleckerl · 09/10/2023 06:06
