Do you know anyone who has never had Covid?

Most adults I know have had it multiple times, especially people with kids at school. Most kids have had it multiple times. But a lady at work says she and her husband have had it, and they are going to participate in a medical study. And now I just wondered if not having Covid is unusual or whether lots of people have managed to avoid it all this time.

Me, despite being around a lot of people who have had it and shared a house with husband and child when they had it I have never caught it.

CrochetedOwl · 05/10/2023 07:42

I have never had it. I started testing with the ONS every month from late spring early summer 2020. Not had so much as a cold either. The other 5 people in my household have had it multiple times. I am overweight, a smoker and worked all through lockdown. I was careful but not obsessive. I would love to know why I didn't get it.

CrochetedOwl · 05/10/2023 07:43

Oh and I had to test twice a week for work too.

Me and DH haven’t.

DD had it 4 times. Mum got it whilst in hospital, I was with her a lot of the time, even shared several coffees.. still never picked it up.

Tested regularly for work.

MamaToABeautifulBoy · 05/10/2023 07:47

My parents. They are always out and about so no idea how!

Enderunicorn · 05/10/2023 07:53

As far as I know I've never had it and I've had to test regularly for work until recently. I'm only testing if symptomatic at moment so I suppose I could have had it recently and not know. My mum and my kids don't seem to have had it either and husband has only had it before the first lockdown and not since. I don't know anyone outside my family who hasn't had it at least once.

Enderunicorn · 05/10/2023 07:54

By testing regularly I mean twice a week plus every day when symptomatic so I find it unlikely I wouldn't have tested positive at some point if I'd had it.

TheActualDuck · 05/10/2023 07:58

My husband and my MIL have never had it despite being around multiple family members who have tested positive. I'm convinced it's something I'm their genes.

DogandMog · 05/10/2023 07:58

Me, though I might have had it asymptomatically April 2020. Had a teeny tiny tickly throat and my airways felt like when you go out on a cold crisp day & there's a hint of smoke in the air. Also had a couple of drenching night sweats. But didn't feel the slightest bit lousy or fatigued.

My DH had it early Nov 2022. I spent hours per day & night in the same room. The night before he came down with it I had a slight nasal dribble & felt like my immune system was on high alert, but I tested negative in the morning and the next few days. Did get clobbered with the hideous pelvic floor destroying cough a couple of weeks later though (RSV?)

SoupDragon · 05/10/2023 07:59

Me. At least I've never tested positive when I've either had to test or thought I should because of a cold.

DS currently has it for about the 4th time though. Always very mild.

PinkRoses1245 · 05/10/2023 08:07

I’ve never tested positive, DH has twice. But rarely test and certainly not for last 2 years.

tuvamoodyson · 05/10/2023 08:07

Me, my DH, my sibling and several friends….

Jen91983 · 05/10/2023 08:07

My husband and daughter have never caught it. I’ve had it once, my son twice.

Cloclo93 · 05/10/2023 08:10

Yeah my aunt, uncle and my father, but then again I don't think they ever tested.. isn't symptoms like a small cold for some?

Iheartmysmart · 05/10/2023 08:12

I know many people who haven’t had it. Me, both my sisters, BIL, ex-DH, my mum and dad, most aunts and uncles, grandmother, only 3 of my friends have had it but they all work in schools.

Worldgonecrazy · 05/10/2023 08:12

Me, my husband, my daughter, my dad, my mum also managed to avoid before her death, and two colleagues at work.

Hedjwitch · 05/10/2023 08:19

Me,my elderly mother and my daughter.

Ginmonkeyagain · 05/10/2023 08:22

Mr Monkey has never had covid. I had it once - a very very mild dose in early 2022 (a day or two of a mildly tickly throat) but tested strongly positive for 10 days. We took no distancing precautions at home (I mean we live in a 2 bed flat - it was not really possible!) and he still did not get it.

We broadly stuck to distancing rules but took every opportunity to get out and about when we were allowed and since things got back to normal we have been happily travelling, going to festivals, gigs, crowded pubs etc..

HowVeryHeather · 05/10/2023 08:22

I haven't had it and neither have two of my children.

UtterlyUnimaginativeUsername · 05/10/2023 08:29

I'm not aware of having had it, even when DH and the kids did. I did test a few times when they had it, and it was always negative.

daffodilandtulip · 05/10/2023 08:33

I was one of the people who was horrifically ill the Christmas before covid officially hit, but have never had it. Tested twice weekly for work. Same for DC.

schnubbins · 05/10/2023 08:46

I haven't had it despite everyone else in the house having it, flying during Covid , concerts , public transport etc etc. But then i haven't ever had flu or a cold in the last 10 years or longer.

HipHopBanzai · 05/10/2023 08:47

My friend has had it but her husband and three children (all at school) haven't.

orchardsquare · 05/10/2023 08:48

I know loads of people who've never had it, but of course they could have had it and had no/few symptoms.

Thisbastardcomputer · 05/10/2023 08:50

Me and my husband
