Do you know anyone who has never had Covid?

Most adults I know have had it multiple times, especially people with kids at school. Most kids have had it multiple times. But a lady at work says she and her husband have had it, and they are going to participate in a medical study. And now I just wondered if not having Covid is unusual or whether lots of people have managed to avoid it all this time.

I tested positive for. 1 day last year with no symptoms (had to test for work). DS hasn't had it

Charliecatpaws · 04/10/2023 23:32

Neither me or DH have had it. DH worked frontline as a paramedic during the whole pandemic but was scrupulous with PPE. I also work for the NHS and was redeployed to an area with high levels of Covid but luckily dodged it.

Philomenacunk1 · 04/10/2023 23:34

I’ve never had it. Been in contact with loads of people who have it but have never managed to catch it - not genetically immune as all of my family have had it at least twice!

Me or more accurately not to my knowledge despite being an environment that made it much more likely. And DH having it. At one point having to testing twice a week due to work but nothing 🤷‍♀️

sunshineandshowers40 · 04/10/2023 23:35

Myself, husband and two DCs haven't had it, middle DC has

sunshineandshowers40 · 04/10/2023 23:35

*not to our knowledge

VeronicaSawyer89 · 04/10/2023 23:36

Yeah, my dad has never had it.

THNG5 · 04/10/2023 23:36

Me! Although I was furloughed when the pandemic started as I was pregnant. I went back to work in May 2021 in retail and last year, started working in a nursery as well as evening work in retail.
I've also got 5 young kids. 1 had covid for sure but the others never had it (we think).

RantyAnty · 04/10/2023 23:37

Never had it either. I had the vaccine and was very careful about hygiene and masking.

My sister had it 3 times as did the rest of their family. She was bad cold sick and the rest had a mild fever. They're anti vax so never was vaccinated for it.

ShinyAppleDreamingOfTheSea · 04/10/2023 23:38

My husband and at least one of my friends.

Iamanunsafebuilding · 04/10/2023 23:39

My DD. She lived with DH & I when we both had it and tested negative, she tested every other day until after we were negative. She now works as cabin crew flying short and medium haul and as yet hasn't had it!

DramaAlpaca · 04/10/2023 23:39

My 80-something parents haven't had it, and my dad was out and about during the pandemic, no shielding or anything.

Me, DH and DS didn't get it until March this year and it was very mild for all of us.

I've a colleague who didn't get it at all.

Hmmmbetterchangethis · 04/10/2023 23:40

I don’t think I have, but I never tested other than when I had to, to go on holiday.
I ignored the guidance as much as possible in terms of going out and about, so not shielding or being extra careful.

Thegoodbadandugly · 04/10/2023 23:40

My daughter has never had COVID and also when I visited my mother in hospital I was told by a nurse there even though she was working on COVID wards she'd never had it

Devilsmommy · 04/10/2023 23:41

Me, my husband and our 1yr old all never had it

LikeRobbieSays · 04/10/2023 23:41

My parents and my MIL

TherebytheGraceofGodgoI · 04/10/2023 23:42

We haven’t had it here and DH and DS regularly did tests.
Haven’t had a cold for ages either.
A friend was telling me that she hasn’t had it and believes there was an indication that people with blood group O may have some protection against it. No idea where that came from but I am also group O

PleaseGiveMeBackMySummer · 04/10/2023 23:42

I hardly know anyone who has had it. Literally like 4 or 5 people. Me and DH have never had it, and neither have most people in our street, our friendship group(s,) our workplaces, or our family. Hardly anyone. Most have had the vaccines.

LifeExperience · 04/10/2023 23:44

My son has not had it.

TribeD · 04/10/2023 23:45

DH and my parents haven't had it.

I've had it twice, DD had it once, and pretty much everyone I know has had it too

WhateverMate · 04/10/2023 23:45

My husband and my 91 year old dad have never had it.

But that's to the best of our knowledge, I mean they don't grab a test every time they sneeze.

I've had it 3 times and the second time was like the mildest sore throat and runny nose ever....I thought it was hayfever but because my colleague tested positive, I tested too otherwise I would've had no idea.

So I don't know how anyone can say with confidence that they've never had Covid.

Ladyoftheknight · 04/10/2023 23:48

Me, my whole family (6 immediate+10 closest) have never had it, very few friends have, even one who was a junior Dr during 2020.

We test every cough and sniffle, we are careful in crowds and especially careful when flying/in hospitals etc

deveronvalley · 04/10/2023 23:48

I only know one person in real life who HAS had it (my husband)! Or tested positive anyway.

IcedBananas · 04/10/2023 23:49

How would you know you had it though if you were asymptomatic like many people supposedly were (which is why it spread so fast)? Most people wouldn’t test without symptoms. There are some people who were testing weekly for work reasons who seem to have genuinely dodged it though. I saw an article looking for people like that for medical research.

Edinvillian · 04/10/2023 23:49

Neither of my grandparents or my mother in law have had it. Touch wood.
