Do you know anyone who has never had Covid?

Most adults I know have had it multiple times, especially people with kids at school. Most kids have had it multiple times. But a lady at work says she and her husband have had it, and they are going to participate in a medical study. And now I just wondered if not having Covid is unusual or whether lots of people have managed to avoid it all this time.

me and my husband have not had it. Our kids have though (asymptomatic but the schools were handing out tests)

Me, my whole family (6 immediate+10 closest) have never had it, very few friends have, even one who was a junior Dr during 2020.

We test every cough and sniffle, we are careful in crowds and especially careful when flying/in hospitals etc

Should add, we all test weekly/fortnightly so unlikely we missed it! And no jabs for any of us

madamovaries · 04/10/2023 23:50

My parents managed to avoid it, but so has my (very sociable) sister. She got pinged a lot but never tested positive and never had any symptoms

Me and my 5yo dd have never had it. I test myself weekly (even now) before I see my Dad, who is CV.

I'm truly amazed that we've never had it, as i'm in a public facing role, worked through lockdowns and dd has been in a childcare setting throughout. I've been around many people who've tested positive as well. Most recently my manager, and I was sat with her all day the day before she tested positive. She had symptoms then (coughing) but thought it was a cold.

Dd started school in September, so I'm anticipating that we're bound to catch it soon!

My household has been covid free so far afaik. We tested monthly on the ons survey, plus the odd LFT if we had any suspicious symptoms and never had a positive test. DH and I wfh but DD is in secondary school and takes the bus everyday. I’m immunocompromised so have just received a couple of boxes of tests in the post. Also have had about 1000 jabs… Grin

Me! Although I was very unwell with a nasty cough among other symptoms just before Covid was known about (even my DM, the least sympathetic person when it came to being unwell - as a teenager I was ill for too weeks before she finally took me to the doctor and it was confirmed I had glandular fever - told me I shouldn't go to work). I suspect I might have had it then - in total I was ill for about six weeks before I felt normal again. Who knows? But I have never tested positive since (I work in a profession where I was required to test regularly, and since then have tested negative if I was worried I might be infected).

Slightlyoff · 04/10/2023 23:54

I and dc haven't knowingly had it.

Smallonesaremorejuicy · 04/10/2023 23:54

None of my family & friends have had it ! A great aunt who lives in Canada has!

vdbfamily · 04/10/2023 23:56

I know some hospital staff who have not yet had it, who worked all through lock down, some on Covid wards.

FictionalCharacter · 04/10/2023 23:58

I haven't, or at least I haven't been symptomatic or tested positive.
In our family only one dc has had it, last year. Other dc, dh and myself haven't.

FFSWhatToDoNow · 04/10/2023 23:58

I haven’t had it. DH and DD have only had it
once.

Wolvesart · 05/10/2023 00:00

Loads of people I know haven’t. In summer 2022 the DH tested positive, I was at least as ill and in the same way as he was but didn’t test positive. So technically I haven’t either

My MiL and BiL haven't had it. My FiL was immune suppressed so they literally did not go outside the door except their back garden for the first and second wave. BiL went back to work at some point after the second wave ended. MiL was constantly testing as well.

Me

Lavenderandbrown · 05/10/2023 00:07

My son…lived in shared dorm room at uni. Many exposures to other students who were compliant to various degrees with masking etc
my 89 y.o father. He has multi health hx risk factors. He was cautious but not without some contacts. Has been approached to be in study
me. Front line caregiver. Worked every scheduled day during Covid lockdown. Countless covid patient exposures. Did wear PPE.

all three of us fully immunized. My son tested twice weekly while at school I was tested randomly or if I was concerned. I do believe we have never had Covid.

SloraceHughorn · 05/10/2023 00:08

Neither of my parents (who live separately) have had it, which is a relief because they're both classified as extremely clinical vulnerable. A few other family members only had it for the first time this year too.

I've had it thrice (fully vaccinated- though my hep b vaccine never took so I wonder if something similar happened with COVID too) and I've felt worse each time having it so dreading catching it a fourth time 😞

DH has only had it once (mildly) despite being in close contact with me each time. He rarely gets other viral infections either and usually shakes them off in a day when he does so his immune system definitely seems more effective than mine!

Spencer0220 · 05/10/2023 00:09

Hubby and I haven't had it. We are both in the at risk category, and have been very careful. Still wear masks out and about, test regularly and refuse visits unless guests pre-test. (We are prepared to buy and ship tests if needed.)

Pre-testing has saved us on a few occasions.

Marcipex · 05/10/2023 00:17

I only know one; she isn’t vaccinated either.

NowItsSpring · 05/10/2023 00:17

I was totally asymptomatic when I had Covid. Only knew I had it as I was part of community testing research before tests were available. A subsequent blood test confirmed I had covid antibodies. If I hadn't even part of this research project I would have been one of the people saying I have never had Covid

Hiya. Just wondering if anyone has been lucky enough to have foods in uk from other countries before they were even popular or on sale for example when I was in primary school in the late 1970"s one of my friends was American (there was a u.s airbase nearby) and she used to bring in loads of packets of M & M's years before they were available in uk (wasn't that impressed with them they were like Smarties but smaller) and in the late 90's/early 2000's my sister lived in the States and used to send us back packets of Idahoan mashed potatoes - they are lovely and much nicer than Smash etc.🇬🇧🇱🇷

Me. .NHS.

Ponderingwindow · 05/10/2023 00:22

DH and I have never had it. He is immune compromised so we are very cautious. Our teenager has had it once. Her doctors and his doctors set up some very strict protocols for our household for while she was sick. Despite the fact that I was caring for her and giving her breathing treatments for her asthma, by using PPE, and maintaining quarantine zones in the house, we managed not to let it spread.
