.....this year? It's one of my favourite shows but I'm not sure if I'm going to watch it.

As it is, I'm not even sure how close they are. They did Big Fat Quiz together in 2006, 2007 and 2015. Three appearances out of 37shows. RB also teamed up with Jonathan Ross in 2009. A pp says they appear to be acquaintances only.

From The Mirror in 2014 "Russell and I do transcendental meditation together. It’s very special, as it’s hard to learn. We’re good friends. I stay at his house and we hang out.

Noel Fielding: I called Alice Cooper at 5am for a chat

The Never Mind The Buzzcocks captain and comedian, 41, discusses steam with Stephen Fry and wallpaper with Courtney Love as he takes us through his photo album…

From The Telegraph, taken from an Observer interview: 'Fielding summed up his life – and how much he was enjoying it – in an interview with The Observer in 2007: “I go to lots of gigs, hang out with bands, party hard. I don’t think it’s possible to have a better time than I’ve had this year. It’s like my birthday every night. I DJ with seven girls, I hang around the Hawley Arms with Amy Winehouse and Russell Brand,” he enthused.'

I think we are getting to the stage of cancelling anyone vaguely linked to the cancelled.

All we will have to watch soon is crap reality TV, with their behaviour tolerated. And it appears, your historic sexual assault only matters if a celeb did it.

She was 16. He was 33. Just keep that in your heads. He would have known how old she was-she was Bob Geldof's daughter. If decent 33 year old men feel "chemistry" with a 16 year old girl, they shut up about it and remove themselves from the vicinity. Fast. Sheesh, I find it incredible that this should need saying. How about going on the Relationship board here and saying you're a 33 year old man and you feel incredible chemistry with the 16 year old daughter of an acquaintance!

I find the guy really unattractive which means I swerve him anyway but what do you think should happen?

Not on TV anymore or..

Or maybe we'll get to a place where women on TV and working behind the scenes don't have to have a WhatsApp where they warn each other about sexual predators that are working without censure in the business.

@ScribblingPixie
Exactly. The culture needs to change so that means those in the know should face the consequences of doing nothing.

KeepSmiling89 · 21/09/2023 13:22

To answer OP's original question - nope, not feeling queasy at all. I love Noel and his banter on GBBO - I think he annoys the contestants a bit, but, generally, they have a laugh with him. He brings a good comedy element to the show IMHO and I'm going to keep watching.
Glad Matt Lucas has gone - don't think he really brought anything to the table, but think Alison will be a bright and bubbly influence on the show.

Looking forward to Tuesday night :)

Shall we throw out our Amy Winehouse CDs too?

They were hanging out in a pub in London that was famous at the time. I saw them both in there. From my perspective (i was 24/25ish) back then, it was VERY obvious that she and her friends were school children.

ScribblingPixie · 21/09/2023 13:36

What does this prove?

It was in response to a PP who said that Noel Fielding and Russell Brand were probably just TV acquaintances. The two quotes are from 2007 and 2014, so show there was a seven-year period at least when Noel Fielding and Russell Brand were good friends.

No.

I said it earlier in the thread but I'm pretty certain they've never been close friends, not really. My friend is literally one of NF's best friends and RB has never been in the group. His actual friends would be of little interest to anybody, they're not famous.

Butteredtoast55 · 21/09/2023 14:22

I'm not wildly enthused either. I don't care for NF and, honestly, I'd be delighted never to see Paul Hollywood and his stupid, self-aggrandizing handshake ever again.

PureAmazonian · 21/09/2023 15:02

This is just ridiculous. Being friends with someone doesn't mean you know all their secrets and usually if you're a good friend you stay loyal and see the good in them, until proven otherwise. And I'd imagine RB did a pretty good job of convincing people around him that he was innocent. Let's be honest he's done a pretty good job so far of convincing the majority of the public that he's some kind of life guru these days. And by all accounts it also seems like RBs lawyers and the executives in the media productions did a pretty good job at quashing the majority (if not all) of the allegations towards him.

localnotail · 21/09/2023 15:23

Whatever people here say, on this thread, NF was not accused of anything - and until someone says he abused women and girls, these are just nasty accusations worthy of a gutter press. Noel did keep a questionable company, and the whole thing of him being associated with Pixie and Peaches is gross - but as far as we know, he hasn't committed any crimes. In my view, he is a bit of an attention whore but this is as far as it goes at the moment.
