Oh, providing the polls don't tighten to the point where we are all despondent I think this thread should have the watch party of the decade and I am totally here for it.

Zonder · 07/10/2023 22:32

I'll provide the fizzy pop and Pringles!

L1ttledrummergirl · 07/10/2023 23:14

I'll be there. Party hats at the ready.

RafaistheKingofClay · 07/10/2023 23:18

No way I’m missing it. I’ll bring the bunting.

BIossomtoes · 08/10/2023 06:54

I’ll be here. I can think of no better company. I wonder how many threads we’ll fill?

Roussette · 08/10/2023 07:32

I always watch elections, having a doze in between the waiting, I watch US ones too Blush

I'll bring the cheesy footballs !

Cheguevarahamster · 08/10/2023 07:44

Can i join the party too? Got my spreadsheet and bunting ready. 🎉😁🎉

countrygirl99 · 08/10/2023 07:52

The last election I stayed up all night for was 1979 as I've always been in a constituency that doesn't declare until the next morning. Back then I could stay up all night, concentrate on lectures the next day, go to the theatre the following eveningthen sit putting the world to rights over coffee until 2 am. I think I'll stay up next time but set an alarm hourly and if it's before I retire, bookthe next day off!

OhYouBadBadKitten · 08/10/2023 08:14

Hoping to be at our local Count. If we out the Tory mp, I'll organise a conga line to party through the hall. Grin

DuncinToffee · 08/10/2023 09:17

Loving the election night talk. No idea what I will do but I do remember in 1997 DH's dad calling us as soon as it was clear Labour had won.

What about this

Marina Wheeler, leading barrister and Boris Johnson’s ex-wife, to be Labour’s “whistleblowing tsar” for women against workplace harassment.

BIossomtoes · 08/10/2023 09:38

Good for Marina. What is it they say about revenge being a dish best eaten cold?

The Transport Secretary Mark Harper asked why a series of commitments made by Rishi Sunak last week to build new transport projects around the country have now been deleted, says they were merely "examples" of the "sorts of things that that money could be spent on" #bbclaurak

"Examples" of the "sorts of things that money could be spent on".

Fucks sakes.

Cornettoninja · 08/10/2023 10:11

I was quite impressed by Kier this morning. Boring he may be, but he’s focussed and realistic.

it was a huge contrast to the Tory fella who’s interview followed.

DuncinToffee · 08/10/2023 10:16

Starmers word cloud, plenty to work on but not too bad

Keir Starmer commits to scrapping the Rwanda scheme, regardless of what happens over the next year

Finally someone willing to stand up and openly and publicly have some humanity.

Interesting about Wheeler. Can't wait for Johnson's ex being the woman's tsar being thrown about alongside the claims Labour will destroy woman's rights and they don't know what one is.

FFS about the transport projects being "examples". Just when you think they've reached the ultimate level of fuckwit they excel themselves Angry

The Labour conference opened yesterday with the National Women's Conference

Bit like the bus pledge, we could give £350 million to the NHS, we won't, but we could.

Better to give it too our mates to stash it offshore where they won't pay tax on it.

You will need to be here with us. What if we get to the post limit on a thread and need a new one?

pointythings · 08/10/2023 15:44

@Zonder I'll be there if new threads are needed (they probably will be).

MrTiddlesTheCat · 08/10/2023 15:57

Daily Mail currently running a story about Hamas being cheered and clapped at a Labour Party Conference fringe event. I'm so angry. 1 that it happened and 2 that it had fuck all to do with the conference and was at some nutjob event at another location in Liverpool. I've submitted my first ever complaint to IPSO.
