What those shouting for tax cuts should be asked is which public services they’re proposing to take the money from.

DuncinToffee · 18/09/2023 08:30

Labour is calling foi Sunak to block Liz Truss’ resignation honours list.

Too bad those officials didn't just do it.

DuncinToffee · 18/09/2023 09:26

or that Kuenssberg reported on it at the time.

I don’t imagine she was informed at the time.

DuncinToffee · 18/09/2023 09:50

Yes, I think Cummings kept that quiet

My shameful secret is that I find Cummings fascinating.

Not in a hero worshipping way, more a what make Charles Manson tick kind of way.

RafaistheKingofClay · 18/09/2023 11:04

You aren’t wrong @Cornettoninja

mibbelucieachwell · 18/09/2023 11:49

Found you. Thank you again.

The Tories definitley think teaching can be done in a marquee/ Nissen hut/ shed by poorly paid, half qualified people. See how they boasted about (alleged) rising standards when confronted about pay/funding/ RAAC. Why fund anything if the results the people are getting can be made to look acceptable?

Same here!

IClaudine · 18/09/2023 20:35

Found you! Thanks Duncin.

So what have the Tories been up to while everyone has been distracted by the Brand story?

Zonder · 18/09/2023 20:36

Good question @IClaudine

DuncinToffee · 18/09/2023 20:43

The Liberal Democrats have won a vote in the Lords this evening on an amendment forcing the Government to publish a register of schools and hospitals in serious disrepair, including those impacted by the RAAC scandal

They'll find a way of dodging that, but at least there will be some squeaky bums in Westminster tonight.

Notonthestairs · 18/09/2023 21:26

"So what have the Tories been up to while everyone has been distracted by the Brand story?"

I guess half of them have spent the day wishing Truss would shut up and stop reminding everyone of the Conservative shitshow. The rest would like to stick Sunak in the bin and bring her back.
One big happy family.

Apparently Sunak won’t be commenting on Truss’s speech because he’s too busy being prime minister. Which is good, because I was wondering when he was going to start.

DuncinToffee · 19/09/2023 09:20

Barclay is back with his lies stating 'restoring Junior Doctors pay "would not be consistent with bringing that inflation target down"'

He is also not denying that once the legislation is in place they'll sack doctors who go on strike in defiance of the proposed minimum service levels.

And talking about a media frenzy

https://www.bbc.co.uk/news/business-66851909

I don't suppose this will get nearly the coverage the original did - I can't see Sunak or Braverman etc stepping up now.

DuncinToffee · 19/09/2023 09:57

Braverman should be busy

More than 1,000 Metropolitan Police officers are currently suspended or on restricted duties, the force has said, as it tries to root out rogue officers.

The crackdown follows a string of scandals, but a senior officer warns it'll take years to root out corruption.
