Well that’s unsurprising. There had to be a way they were going to try and make money out of it.

L1ttledrummergirl · 06/10/2023 17:55

Fuckers. They should be offering them back at a discounted rate due to the upheaval and distress they've caused.

The owners will need any profits to get the properties back to the conditions they left them in.
Arseholes.

Turns out the EU is behind the HS2 plan so it's a good thing it got cancelled according to the Express.

Wanting a pesky link for Europe to the North of England.

So cancelling will show em!!

Zonder · 06/10/2023 18:45

Ah it's Europe's fault! And now they will be cut off from the North. That'll teach them.

www.electoralcalculus.co.uk/fcgi-bin/seatdetails.py?seat=Portsmouth%20North

Is this the fight that Penny Mordaunt is psyching herself up for?
The one where she loses her seat?
Electoral Calculus reckons she has a 34% chance of keeping her seat, and Labour have a 65% chance of gaining it.

I find myself checking Electoral Calculus far too often: it's often the only political ray of hope in my day.

Part of me wants the good people of Portsmouth North to re-elect her to add the mayhem that will be the post election defeat Tory leadership election.

They really are a bunch of fuckers, aren't they?

EXCLUSIVE: HS2 evictees to be told they can buy back their old homes, but at a higher price.

Those who sold properties along the axed northern leg of HS2 may have to pay hundreds of thousands more to return home.

That's disgusting
I read a really sad story yesterday about a farmer whose farm has fallen into disrepair since it was compulsorily purchased, and whether he should buy it back. Can't afford to renovate, still feels its his home.

IClaudine · 06/10/2023 19:05

All the compulsorily purchased houses should be turned in social and affordable housing or something like that.

It must be heartbreaking to have been forced to leave your home for nothing.

We need a revolution I’m just so sick of these conniving thieving morally bankrupt snouts in troughs they are simply arse wipes fit for absolutely nothing just why aren’t we at least marching & waving placards in every town & city the breadth of the country calling for an immediate GE, I’m unwell at the moment may have made much less tolerant.

Lonelycrab · 06/10/2023 19:36

They really are a bunch of fuckers, aren't they?

It’s going to be a long however many months it could be before GE.😟

Half expecting them to not bother with an election, and leave Downing St on the last possible day at 11.59 after having stripped the place of fixtures and copper. and gold wallpaper

https://schoolsweek.co.uk/dfe-made-370m-error-in-school-funding-calculations/

School funding will rise by just 2%, not 2.8% promised in July.

Just goes to show Sunak is right that everyone should learn maths until they are 28.

Well, it's not school budgets are tight or they need to plan carefully or anything.

Notonthestairs · 06/10/2023 19:58

So they've delayed announcing this since September?

They basically couldn't announce or correct this whilst RAAC dominated headlines as it would make them look even worse.

Cheguevarahamster · 06/10/2023 20:17

Chris Grayling is standing down at the next election. Brings total of tory MPs to 50.

Cheguevarahamster · 06/10/2023 20:17

And I am absolutely fuming about the school's budget fiasco. It's a joke.

Mine has been flip-flopping but under the new boundaries likely to stay Tory, which is pretty shit.

Both current and old address say con hold bit with a huge swing to labour. I don’t see it being likely. Far more likely to swing towards Lib Dem in rural sw. Particularly given that half of the new constituency swung hugely to the Lib Dems in a by-election not long ago. I do not see Labour getting 36%ish of the vote.
