As suggested by the lovely Pointythings and her feisty cat army

Hmm, I think I have just encountered clav in disguise.

Anyway, I founds this interesting from Adam Bienkov

If you're wondering why there has been quite so much coverage of Labour's plans to tax private schools, it may have just a little something to do with this.

I think it's generally fairly widely known that journalist went to public school and then, generally, Oxbridge. Apparently, with the death of local routes in it's getting worse, not better.

Notonthestairs · 29/09/2023 18:02

I see Johnson is outraged at the idea of cancelling HS2. Handy to have a topic to use against his successor.

Does their Conference begin tomorrow?

What the hell is going on here? One minute Rishi is considering cutting the winter fuel allowance and then 2 hrs later he isn’t. A u-turn that seems to have happened because Downing Street staff have leaked it to stop it.

EXC: While many in the Conservative Party had assumed Liz Truss simply wants to remain influential following her chaotic stint as prime minister, her ambitions are rather higher - she’s thinking of running again to lead…

Strong & stable.

Cornettoninja · 30/09/2023 08:14

my immediate presumption now is that any Tory extolling the benefits of them remaining in power simply has deals that have the last few pennies left to squeeze out of them.

These people have zero interest in anything that benefits the country. They’re traitors to democracy.

😂 Fucking delusional.

Notonthestairs · 30/09/2023 08:29

I'm not convinced it is delusional. Party members were keen last time, many have never trusted Sunak, and there are active MP groups angling to ensure that members get more influence because that will benefit their preferred candidate.

Frankly I wouldn't rule anything out.

Notonthestairs · 30/09/2023 08:31

Meanwhile the Deputy Chair stoops to making comments about Carole Vorderman's appearance rather than responding to her comments.
All a bit tawdry.

BIossomtoes · 30/09/2023 08:33

Oh come on @Notonthestairs. I know Tory party members aren’t known for their rationality but they want to be in power. Even the least intelligent of them saw the country become a complete laughing stock during her 49 days in office and the lettuce debacle - which will haunt her for ever.

Notonthestairs · 30/09/2023 08:40

Grin maybe you are right.

Although in the era of Trump I think there will be a plenty of effort to rewrite history over the next year - and members have shown themselves keen to believe in what she's selling them.

They're currently trying to rewrite the past 13 years. Not just the last one 🤣🤣

BIossomtoes · 30/09/2023 09:40

That Lastchica poster is incessantly rewriting history. She’s really pissing me off - which is probably the aim 🙄

DuncinToffee · 30/09/2023 09:54

You have rattled her big time

IClaudine · 30/09/2023 09:57

Chica's little hissy fit was quite amusing. The game's up for the Tories, everyone knows it.

AdamRyan · 30/09/2023 10:16

Plus he wears all his clothes a size too small, which really irritates me.
😂

itsgettingweird · 30/09/2023 10:35

I can see how much of my Saturday is going to be wasted now!

You bad woman @IClaudine! I love you 🥰

Chris Skidmore isn't happy

I rather think I might have done! She’s started posting (out of date) links now.

itsgettingweird · 30/09/2023 10:57

What's the other thread you're all on? I feel I should visit that too whilst I'm here!

OP posts:
RafaistheKingofClay · 30/09/2023 10:59

The one about how the Tories could win.

I’ve got to the point where I want them to call the election now just to shut them all up.

itsgettingweird · 30/09/2023 11:03

Thanks.

I'm not sure I have the stomach for a thread that starts with cats being an aspirational feature of people lives. What are these posters on?! 🤦‍♀️

I'm going to read anyway!
