Got new teeth....need honest opinions please

Hi there,

My first post on MN but really hoping to get some opinions.

Due to teeth loss (long story) I have paid privately to get a dental bridge - incisors and 2 front teeth. I had the bridge fitted on Monday. The intention is that this lasts 1-2 years while I have treatment for bone loss before implants are done.

I had very gappy and uneven top front teeth prior to this so I knew I'd take a while to adjust but I'm so disappointed with the look I've achieved.

I just feel the teeth look too big and because of how straight they are, look false. My family and friends keep reassuring me that they look good but if I'm honest, I don't know if I believe them!

I feel I need opinions from people who dont know me. Please be kind with comments but of course honest too. I have a follow up meeting on Monday and it will help me decide what to do.

They look fine but a bit Essex smile and too white! The front two are a bit big I know what you mean but I don’t think they look bad in a “omg look at her teeth” kinda way.

Your new teeth look good OP, especially compared with the before picture - but I thought they were fine before I saw your original teeth. Also nice after picture - you are very photogenic. 🌹

I think it will take some getting used to if they are different from your old teeth but trust me they look great.

You'll adjust to them, they look nice honestly - I don't normally comment on appearance ones but please be reassured that having seen your original teeth and the size then these are replicating the fit for your mouth and you'll be feeling great about them soon!

I wore braces for about six years as a teenager, and my first (devastated!) impression of my smile after having them removed was how massive and horsey my teeth looked!

(Spoiler alert: they did and are not - I was just so unused to seeing my own teeth without rows of metal on them that they looked unnatural to me.)

OP, they look fine: maybe a wee touch artificially white, which is to be expected, but that will settle down and you'll get used to them. Congratulations on your new smile!

I think they look good. You are used to looking at your old teeth so of course you will notice a difference but to someone who has not seen you before they just look normal.

It looks like you've had dental work done but they look really good.

On the other hand my DM once had terrible new false teeth, they were massive and off centre, every time she smiled it made me recoil in horror.

Yours are nothing like that!

I really hate false “looking” teeth. Yours look great. I thought they were going to look awful before I opened the thread. I would be really pleased with your Dentist - they did a great job.

I think they look lovely and really suit your face.

They are white but not silly white and so many people get their teeth whitened so no one would bat an eyelid.
I assume they’ll get less white over time anyway.

I think they’re really nice and you’re absolutely gorgeous!

I think they look great. The only slight criticism I would have is that they are perhaps a bit too white but, as others have said, the colour will gradually become a bit discoloured over time. They are a huge improvement on your natural teeth and look very natural themselves. They make you look younger.

I was in the possibly a little large camp (but only because you invited critical examination, if I met you it wouldn't be my first thought).

But having seen the before they are quite in keeping.

Yes they are very white and I probably would think veneers but I don't think this is a negative thing. More an indication they look good so must be 'done'.

A couple of cups of coffee and the very white will probably tone down a bit..

As you wanted opinions that are honest, I think they're way too big for your mouth.

Lovely colour and straightness, but the teeth are so wide.

I think they look fine, but agree that the two front teeth are too wide. This is obviously because you had a gap and the orthodontist attempted to close it completely
I think that it would have been more natural looking if you kept the gap and just made it a bit smaller

I mean if you want an honest opinion then yes they look lovely but it’s obvious they’re false or you’ve had work done. Aslong as you are happy it shouldn’t matter at all.

I disagree they MIGHT be false, but my eldest's teeth look JUST LIKE that (she's very lucky, compared to mine...) she's never had ANY work done

I have eight veneers on my upper front teeth and I remember well the absolute horror when they were first 'unveiled' - they both felt and looked enormous. Within a few days I had got used to them and they feel and look completely normal now. And I can see in photos how much better and more proportionate they look than my original teeth which were very small and gappy.

Your teeth look, fantastic, OP - enjoy them!
