Got new teeth....need honest opinions please

Hi there,

My first post on MN but really hoping to get some opinions.

Due to teeth loss (long story) I have paid privately to get a dental bridge - incisors and 2 front teeth. I had the bridge fitted on Monday. The intention is that this lasts 1-2 years while I have treatment for bone loss before implants are done.

I had very gappy and uneven top front teeth prior to this so I knew I'd take a while to adjust but I'm so disappointed with the look I've achieved.

I just feel the teeth look too big and because of how straight they are, look false. My family and friends keep reassuring me that they look good but if I'm honest, I don't know if I believe them!

I feel I need opinions from people who dont know me. Please be kind with comments but of course honest too. I have a follow up meeting on Monday and it will help me decide what to do.

Thank you

They are a bit big but I can’t decide if it should change

Can you even change it?

Dibblydoodahdah · 15/09/2023 13:16

They look great. Half of this country walks around with wonky, yellow stained teeth. They are they teeth that I notice and I always think why don’t you do something about that. With teeth like yours, the first thing that comes to mind is that this lady takes care of herself.

OwlHouse6 · 15/09/2023 13:16

Ah now you’ve posted the before, I think that yes the dentist has done a good job in matching the size of your real teeth!

They look fab

Allthestories · 15/09/2023 13:18

I think you look great! Rubbish to the people who think they are too big. They are a lovely straighter version of the original ones. Gorgeous!

Wiii · 15/09/2023 13:19

I had mine done and not only did I have to learn to speak properly again but I hated them at first.

They were too perfect. I love them now, and you will love yours too. They look great x

NnarcissaMalfoy · 15/09/2023 13:22

Totally disagree with the pp who have said they look too big and fake- if I saw them I definitely wouldn't assume they were false, maybe just that they had been straightened and whitened. They look really good, you just need time to get used to them and then you'll love them

Wotwotwotwotwot · 15/09/2023 13:22

They look great! You'll get used to them, it must be 30 years since I had my train track braces removed but I can still remember the shock when I first looked in the mirror my braceless teeth looked massive after seeing them covered by braces for so long!

Cornettoninja · 15/09/2023 13:22

Comparing pics puts it in context. I think you’re missing your gap! (I have one too, it would feel weird to suddenly not have it there)

Honestly you look great. They haven’t completely changed the look or shape of your face. You just need a bit of time with them.

Shelleywelley77 · 15/09/2023 13:23

Never expected so many comments, really appreciated. I needed to hear other peoples honest opinions. No one has been unkind.

I did have big teeth naturally and with the large gap I guess it's been difficult not to make them large.

My dentist is lovely and he could see I was a bit upset and shocked on Monday when he did the 'reveal'. In terms of fixing, he suggested that as its temp material, very slight adjustments might be possible ag no extra cost.

They are obviously modelled on your size of your original teeth (also very white by the way). They look great. Don't listen to some of the people on here....they love making other women feel crap.

HungryWisdom · 15/09/2023 13:27

Now that you’ve posted the before pic, I think they suit you perfectly! PP is right, I think you’re just missing the gap. You’ll get used to it.

You look great! You have lovely skin too!

Intriguedbythis · 15/09/2023 13:28

You look great!!

Saturdaygirl01 · 15/09/2023 13:29

They are definitely much better and I can see that the dentist has made them wide to fill the gaps you had in your original teeth. I’m sure you will get used to them.

Whattodo112222 · 15/09/2023 13:29

They look fine but if you want kind honesty, it's obvious they're false teeth and not natural. That's not a bad thing. I would say your face structure and the teeth are all proportion

Cornettoninja · 15/09/2023 13:29

Sounds mad but I think it might be helpful to spend some time just looking at your reflection/photo. It can take some time to recalibrate how we see ourselves in our mind vs what we actually look like. then at the very least you can take out that tiny element of shock every time you see yourself and look at your face more objectively.

GoodOldEmmaNess · 15/09/2023 13:29

They look great. I'm sure it it very natural for you to find them weird at first. But honestly to a stanger they look lovely.

ChimChimeny · 15/09/2023 13:30

They remind me of the kind of teeth gorgeous American teen/young adults have when they've clearly had a good orthodontist, and I'm always jealous of them (my teeth are pretty bad, currently trying to decide whether to get a fixed brace)
They definitely don't look too big after seeing the before picture

fancyfrogs · 15/09/2023 13:31

They look lovely! A big change for you and I'm sure you'll get used to them and they'll feel like 'yours' in no time

Whattodo112222 · 15/09/2023 13:32

Just to add I think they actually give your face more definition too x

BigHoops · 15/09/2023 13:35

They look great OP! If it helps, I got veneers ten years ago; I had pointy eye teeth and it was to cover those. At first I hated it! Felt it was so false looking. But didn't take me long to get used to it and I still absolutely love my smile after years of hiding my teeth! You will too...enjoy your new look!

honeyandfizz · 15/09/2023 13:36

Comparing the two photos is much more helpful and puts it into perspective - they look great.

I had my front four teeth veneered 6.5 years ago as the front two were chipped when they grew through in my teens plus one of them had a crown, I was embarrassed by my smile. When I first had them I thought I looked like I had rabbit teeth and was going to go back and have them filed but now I am 100% use to them and it was the best money I've ever spent.

Sweatybettysboobs · 15/09/2023 13:38

Maybe youre missing youre original gap, but they look fab and I would assume you've had them straightened and whitened!

cobden28 · 15/09/2023 13:39

You have lovely teeth - the sort I'd be happy to pay a fortune for! It's just a matter of getting used to the feel of the new teeth.

Personally I wouldn't go for dental implants as they don't last forever and have to come out eventually when they work loose. My Mum had 6 teeth implanted at the front of her upper jaw some years back but after about 15 years they'd worked loose and needed to be replaced. At a cost of £1,500 per implant some twenty years ago this wasn't a sum she could easily afford nowadays, being an OAP, so she went for dentures - which I told her she should have gone for in the first place, to save a lot of money. Decent dentures - for which you'll have to go private - don't cost anywhere near as much as implants and unless you make a big public anouncement about it, nobody will know you have false teeth.

BirdiePlantaganet · 15/09/2023 13:40

I think they look really nice.
