How many kids do you have and would you have that number again if you could turn back time?

I’m not asking if you’d have your actual kids with their identities again. But would you have the same number again if you could start your family from scratch?

I have one and love having one. She’s only five though so my views could change

1 and I am fine with that

Needmorelego · 05/09/2023 12:03

I have 1 - would have liked more. I was 33 when she was born. If I could go back - I would have preferred to have her 10 years earlier.
I really wish I had started earlier.

GigiAnnna · 05/09/2023 12:03

I've got 4 and happy with 4. There's good and bad to having that many but I don't regret it because I love them and it's like asking which kid I'd send back.

We had six, big age gaps between first, third/fourth which is lovely tbh. Not 100% sure if I would do it again though

BananaSlug · 05/09/2023 12:06

I have 4 and if I could go back I would only have 1.

LulooLemon · 05/09/2023 12:07

3 is perfect

Spinningcats · 05/09/2023 12:09

1 and 1. Life is great!

WhatALightbulbMoment · 05/09/2023 12:09

Have 3, always wanted 3.

peachgreen · 05/09/2023 12:13

I have 1. She’s 5. Her dad died when she was 2. I go back and forward over having another (I have a new DP). Part of me would really love to, but I worry about the impact it might have on DD.

twistyizzy · 05/09/2023 12:15

I have 1. If I was to do it again I would still only have 1.

TheWayTheLightFalls · 05/09/2023 12:15

I have a singleton and then twins. It’s hard going and I am worn out. I think sticking with one would’ve been better for us.

bellsbuss · 05/09/2023 12:16

4 and would have liked 5

waterlego · 05/09/2023 12:16

I have two and would do the same again. I actually wanted three but DH vetoed a third. I was sad about it at the time but he was right!

TeddyBeans · 05/09/2023 12:16

I have two. I'd have two again but would have had them younger and with a smaller age gap. They're 5 and 6 months and I'm 33 now. Would have loved to be done by 30 but it wasn't to be

Monkeybutt1 · 05/09/2023 12:16

We have 1 and wouldn't change that

LBOCS2 · 05/09/2023 12:16

I have three. I would probably have had another in me if we'd thought about it before our youngest started school, but the 'window' in which we would have done it was very busy and stressful (selling a difficult probate property - with all the emotional ties which came with it, project managing the renovation of a doer upper as well as working) so we missed the boat.

I sometimes feel a bit sad about it but we're agreed that neither of us want to go back to the beginning of child rearing now we're in the position we're in, so it's done now.

waterlego · 05/09/2023 12:18

Also happy that I had my two when I did (I was 27, and 30 when they were born) and that was right for me.

YouHoooo · 05/09/2023 12:18

Two, and it seems perfect (though one is tiny so never say never).

slapmyarseandcallmemary · 05/09/2023 12:20
  1. I would have maybe had one more if I was younger. But I'm happy with 3.
muchalover · 05/09/2023 12:21

I have 4. I was only thinking yesterday how much I would have loved more.

Madness!

IndeedDanielJackson · 05/09/2023 12:23

4 and absolutely not!! Love them all obviously but 2 seems much more sensible!

NeedMyDress · 05/09/2023 12:27

Have one and on the fence about trying for a second. Feel like I'm only considering it because it's "the norm" and I'm socially conditioned to it!

I keep TTC each month and hoping I've been unsuccessful- then I won't have any guilt for not trying but will be able to stick with one (I'm aware I'm mad).

Rudolphthefrog · 05/09/2023 12:27

Have two, wanted two, very happy with two, would do the same again. In a different set of life circumstances I’d have maybe considered three, but I certainly wouldn’t have a third now.

Sahara123 · 05/09/2023 12:28

3 and would do it again . Except make one of them not seriously disabled with learning difficulties 🥲

stayathomer · 05/09/2023 12:29

Have 4, weirdly always assumed would have 4 (both of us are from 4 children families!) and would die kill etc for every one of them, they’re totally my life!!
