How many kids do you have and would you have that number again if you could turn back time?

I’m not asking if you’d have your actual kids with their identities again. But would you have the same number again if you could start your family from scratch?

I have one and love having one. She’s only five though so my views could change

I’ve got 2 and would like a third. DH yet to be convinced!

icelollycraving · 05/09/2023 21:58

I have one, he is a blessing as was told I would not conceive naturally. Out of choice, I would have loved a couple, I used to say I wanted four when I was young.
I’m grateful for the one I have.

Londoner4 · 05/09/2023 22:10

Have 4. Had 2, after a big gap that nagging feeling for number 3 just wouldn’t give in, then 4 arrived too.

Would have 4 again, but with a smaller gap between 2 and 3.

If I had the money to buy in help and plenty to go around, I’d probably have 5 & 6!

Got 2, plus two step DD's - if I had met dp younger I'd have loved a child or two with him but we were both past more nappies when we met (I suspect i would have been able but I would have been too tired)

Boshi · 05/09/2023 22:29

Always wanted 3, had 3 after years of secondary infertility. I would do it again, while admitting life was much easier and fit perfectly with 2. If I could have started earlier and without the stress and costs of ivf I may have had 4

aurynne · 05/09/2023 22:34

I have zero, and if I could go back I would have zero again. I love my life!

Meadowflower2023 · 05/09/2023 22:38

Very grateful for the one I have. Would have loved more but it wasn't meant to be.

Damonalbarnsbigtoe · 05/09/2023 22:38

3 and I would do it all again exactly the same in a heartbeat.

dressedforcomfort · 05/09/2023 22:44

I have 1. I think if I had my time again I'd have liked a second.

lauraisa · 05/09/2023 22:46

3 and 100% yes would do it again.

I have three and it really worked. All adults now and all so different but they get on really well. My youngest might have been an only child if he was the first born 😂Quite stressy and grumpy but he is now a lovely adult, going off to Vancouver for work in October..am going to miss my wise boy !

MrsMous · 05/09/2023 22:46

I have three, it’s the perfect number in our house 🏡 😍

Agreed!

canonlydoblue · 05/09/2023 22:53

I have six, soon to be seven. Always dreamed of having seven. Wouldn't change things one bit. We're not well off and only our oldest three have their own room.

Ladyoftheknight · 05/09/2023 12:39

5, would do it again and will probably have more.

However, if I could only have one I'd be just as happy. Children are a blessing to me

Exactly the same here, five amazing surprises after 9 rounds of ivf but I'd have been happy with one

I have 4 and if I could go back I would only have 1.

How come? Cos l only have one but would have liked more although there are def advantages!

thisone6 · 05/09/2023 23:03

I have 4 and I'd probably have more if I didn't find pregnancy terrifying.

@GetWhatYouWant we're well off, they've always had plenty of clubs, foreign holidays, house deposit saved etc. However I do think you could have 4 without being a top earner. My 4 could usually be found together in the same room, they could definitely have shared.

Tormundsbeard · 05/09/2023 23:06

Have 2 with a two year age gap, and would do that again.

Mindovermatter247 · 05/09/2023 23:13

I have 2, one of each which is what I always wanted, the only thing I would change is probably waiting longer, all though both were unexpected I still love them more than anything but I wanted to travel a bit before kids. Although I love it now because I’m only 35 with a 15 & 11 year old, I actually enjoy3d being a young mum.
i also probably wouldn’t have left a huge age gap, there’s 5 years between them, … I think 2/3 years is better.

TroglodytesTroglodytes · 05/09/2023 23:15

3, if I had had 1 of each I would have stuck with 2. Maybe I will get slagged off for admitting this but I don’t think it’s uncommon. Happy with 3.

Spartak · 05/09/2023 23:15

Have none, and if I had my time over again I would have liked 1 or 2.

Orangebadger · 05/09/2023 23:23

I have 2. If I had my time over again I would either just have the 1 or have a smaller age gap. 5 years between mine, not by choice. I think a 2/3 year age gap would be better.

Johnisafckface · 06/09/2023 01:31

I have one and honestly if she had to have the same dad then I’d be child free 😂 with someone else maybe two but I found one tough so again regardless I might be child free

junbean · 06/09/2023 05:19

I have 4 with a 12 year gap between the two youngest. I wish I’d had the youngest a bit sooner, and I’d like one more. I only have one son and while gender means nothing really, I’d still like another son. I feel like I could go on mothering forever, but the last pregnancy & childbirth nearly killed both of us so I’m probably done with that aspect :(

Tormundsbeard · 06/09/2023 11:43

I always wanted one of each, but am glad I had two the same. My DDs are much closer than me and my DB. I think they have a lot more in common being the same sex.
