I used to love the shopping list threads on here years ago!

Anyone else remember el bog rollé?
It still appears on our shopping list to this day

Clefable · 26/08/2023 20:12

I always have crumble mix in the cupboard! Why shouldn't we be lazy about some things? There's no moral superiority over mixing your own crumble mix you know.

KimberleyClark · 26/08/2023 20:13

Packet cheese sauce is disgusting though.

Mamette · 26/08/2023 20:15

If the crumble mix is lazy what would you call someone who never made a pudding and only ever served shop-bought things?

Asking for a friend.

guiltyfeethavegotnorythym · 26/08/2023 20:16

Yes of course crumble mix is acceptable I used to use when the kids were little on a Sunday , to give them a pudding . So where are the apples to add to the blackberry and apple crumble ?

<clutches pearls>

Still reeling from the crumble mix!

I was thinking the same that I would be quite aggrieved to ever pay for blackberries but I guess if I lived in a city or more urban area maybe.....

I can assure you there’s plenty of blackberries in cities! There’s no shortage of them in London and I wouldn’t pay for them either.

lovemycbf · 26/08/2023 20:18

So much judgement over ready mixed crumble.
Some people have arthritic hands and can't do things they once could
It's very easy to judge

Nope plenty of blackberries in London. As long as you get there before the WI and their loppers.

What strikes me is that this person is so lazy and/or an utterly crap cook. Ready made cheese sauce is bad enough but I didn't even know ready prepared crumble mix existed, it's only sugar, flour butter and maybe oats, takes seconds to make!
Feet - maybe foot cream/ foot scrub/ deodorant? Or maybe nothing to do with Waitrose, maybe a reminder to book a chiropodist?

Okay, you win at life. Everyone else is terrible 🙄

longestlurkerever · 26/08/2023 20:20

Obviously you get scratched to buggery which is why blackberries cost £££ to buy but rhubarb makes a good crumble too

KirstenBlest · 26/08/2023 20:20

Not the list I'd have expected from a Waitrose shopper. Surely they cook from scratch. Clutches pearls

My kind of person

guiltyfeethavegotnorythym · 26/08/2023 20:23

I also used to buy tinned rhubarb to go with the pkt crumble 😮.

Yes. I don't understand why you'd pick up something someone has lost and then post it online to invite people to judge and mock them. It's unpleasant.

egowise · 26/08/2023 19:46

What a judgement from a tiny shopping list.

It's what I thought too.

Judgement is too strong a word, I don't think anything about this person's character. But I did think "crap cook". And clearly not keen on picking blackberries, although I guess you don't get them everywhere and some places will be picked clean.

MrsFiddle · 26/08/2023 20:28

Nothing exciting on that list that you would go to Waitrose for...

bpirockin · 26/08/2023 20:31

You don't have to be lazy to buy a pre-made crumble mix or cheese sauce! I wish I'd thought about looking for such things since an accident that left me unable to stir/hold pans etc. One working arm, and that doesn't always co-operate, however much time I have on my hands. I have the burns and a knackered shoulder/wrist due to my various attempts at acting like an able-bodied person. Why should I have to live on microwaved meals alone?

dannyufcfan1 · 26/08/2023 20:32

Feet? They were looking to buy Rachel's trifle from Friends.

I don't think it's to judge and mock. People like a nosy at others' lives. It's just idle curiosity, isn't it? Wonder what they are planning with these ingredients, etc.

OP can't be held responsible if others are agast that it's not full of organic spelt to be milled at home for bread. Which is all that my Waitrose list had this week, by the way. Also, clay, to fire my own crumble dish in, of course

UncleBobsUncle · 26/08/2023 20:35

Veet?

ChampagneLassie · 26/08/2023 20:37

not my list but I buy crumble mix AND blackberries and I also pick blackberries but guess what I’m too busy to always be able to do this when I need them FFS the idea that people have endless time for things is a judgement

BreatheAndFocus · 26/08/2023 20:37

Feet - a treatment for her feet, eg moisturiser, heel cream, etc etc. it’s a pretty normal abbreviation to save writing it out in full and to prompt your memory as soon as you see it.

What makes you assume lazy?

My mother has terrible arthritis in her hands so she uses ready made mash potato. Does that make her lazy?

My friend is a nurse on long days and sometimes only has a short crossover period where she sees her husband before his shift. So she cuts corners like this to save precious time? Lazy? Or extremely hard working and deserves a flipping minute?

The snobbery is just too much!
🙄

Fizbosshoes · 26/08/2023 20:40

I'm not judging anyone for buying blackberries, I'm just way too mean to pay for them myself!
