I always refer to my AirPods as my “ears” (as in, “Sorry for being late to the call, I couldn’t find my ears”) so maybe it means socks or similar?

Also agree with a PP, anything written separately is something I’m going to buy in a different place.

I work in a supermarket and someone left a small shopping list (written on the back of an old lottery ticket) at the back of a checkout recently.
We're still stumped by one of the things ('BLOCK'?) but loved the little drawing of the pyramid teabags!
Some of the others took a bit of working out.

More interested in the "Diet Cock"

Is there a full fat version too then presumably?

Yes, and 2 craps!?

bunnywarren · 26/08/2023 22:45

PyongyangKipperbang That was the one that was commented on most, for some reason! 😁

PyongyangKipperbang · 26/08/2023 22:45

Also.....I get the spelling mistakes but what on earth are "2 craps"?!

bunnywarren · 26/08/2023 22:45

PyongyangKipperbang We think the '2 craps' is actually '2 grapes'. Punnets of grapes.
Hope so, anyway!

PyongyangKipperbang · 26/08/2023 22:48

What gets me is that they are struggling with Lettuce and Juice but can spell Quiche and Spaghetti which are arguably harder!

although not as hard as the diet cock obviously!

PyongyangKipperbang · 26/08/2023 22:49

Yeah DP just said grapes!

bunnywarren · 26/08/2023 22:50

PyongyangKipperbang That's what we said too!

PyongyangKipperbang · 26/08/2023 22:50

Could block be cheese?

Thedoor · 26/08/2023 22:51

Diet cock ck rather than ke, so continuing that spelling theme they want a bloke, possibly a Jewish one, not a block, which will get them a cock, no guarentees of if its the diet size though.
Where can you buy 5 eggs though?

bunnywarren · 26/08/2023 22:51

PyongyangKipperbang I thought cheese, or one of those toilet disinfectant blocks? Surely cheese would be more obvious to write, though? Heaven knows.

PyongyangKipperbang · 26/08/2023 22:53

Oh yeah..... DP said maybe she wants a skinny bloke to stop her husband gettinga bit on the side hence the "Diet Cock Block".

I have no idea. Maybe they needed 5 eggs for a recipe, or started to write something else, then changed their mind?

PyongyangKipperbang · 26/08/2023 22:54

I lost my job in hospitality during covid and started in a supermarket. I have to admit that I did secretly hope to bring back the Shopping List Threads on the back of it but I have found NONE!! Gutted!

bunnywarren · 26/08/2023 22:57

I've been there over four years, and this is the best one l've seen. Mostly they're very mundane and boring.

Exactly, cold milk, butter or margarine and some flour. Delia’s all in one method. Grated cheese and seasoning. Job done. 5 minutes.

Packet cheese sauce mix: 45p. Half pint of milk: ~40p. Total ~85p.

Made at home: milk: ~40p. Butter: £1.80. Flour: 55p for 500g own brand. Cheese: ~ £2.50 for a block. Total: £5.25.

I think I'm more surprised that a shopping list was picked up and purposely taken home and photographed 😂

This!

EbiRaisukaree · 26/08/2023 23:12

Robert Popper, comic writer and genius behind Friday Night Dinner, writes fictional and bemusing shopping lists and leaves them in trollies for all of you people to find.

I do find mocking the list of the clearly dyslexic or poorly educated person above a bit much though, people.

What a judgement from a tiny shopping list.

I thought exactly the same!

Ye olde MN tradition. There was a time when a day didnt seem to pass without someone finding a shopping list and typing out the details on a MN post - back in ye olden days when photos on MN werent a thing. Threads went on for ages discussing the ins and outs of the various items on said lists.

PyongyangKipperbang · 26/08/2023 23:28

Yeah shopping list threads were great!!

I believe that one of those is were "Naice Ham" came from?

LouHey · 26/08/2023 23:33

My husband's shopping lists only make sense to him half the time. He puts "hair", rather than shampoo and conditioner (because it's shorter to write). I can't remember some of his other short cuts, but they often amuse me.

HelpMeUnpickThis · 26/08/2023 23:35

GetWhatYouWant · 26/08/2023 19:39

What strikes me is that this person is so lazy and/or an utterly crap cook. Ready made cheese sauce is bad enough but I didn't even know ready prepared crumble mix existed, it's only sugar, flour butter and maybe oats, takes seconds to make!
Feet - maybe foot cream/ foot scrub/ deodorant? Or maybe nothing to do with Waitrose, maybe a reminder to book a chiropodist?

You are mean. @GetWhatYouWant
