Hello, feeling really tired and fed up today, can't seem to motivate myself to do the things I should be doing, anyone else feel down today?

It’s 9:50am here and we have a new puppy. She’s worn us out and is currently sleeping. I need to get up and do something productive but instead drinking coffee and sitting on the floor next her obsessing over MN.

NatAndMatt · 13/08/2023 14:51

Just drinking a coffee and relaxing. I shall be eating soon.

I hope you feel better.

AliceOlive · 13/08/2023 14:51

Yesterday I misread a recipe for shortbread and bought more than double the sour cream and heavy cream that I needed.

Anything suggestions about what I can make today to use it up?

jeffgoldblum · 13/08/2023 14:53

Hi 👋 @AliceOlive, nice to see you!
I remember the puppy stage to clearly, I've got two ( obviously blocked the first experience out!) now they're just like two needy toddlers who follow me around whining! 🤣

What kind? Mine is a 9 week old yellow lab. She’s an absolute angel at times. Than becomes a terror.

jeffgoldblum · 13/08/2023 14:55

Thanks Nat, not sure alice , a dip with sour cream?
Potato dauphinois with cream?
I really need to clean the toilet and kitchen ( particularly the oven )
But why bother 🤣

In the mists of time we had 3 cats and a longhaired black German shepherd, she was the best dog in the world, I'm afraid of dog's funny enough but my mil brought her down for us and my dh was posted shortly after so I turned her into a cat!! 🤣

Dip.. yes. Oh heavens. I just looked and have four containers of sour cream. We do have potatoes, too.

I need to plan dinner and some snacks things. Friends coming over to meet the puppy later.

Also, take a walk or something.

How old are your pups? Was it easier to have two?

jeffgoldblum · 13/08/2023 15:00

They are now 2 and 1 , I think two small ones are great to keep each other company but I would not get two bigger dogs 🐕

That is funny! I love German Shepherds.

We have three cats. Was very worried about their reaction but our last doggy was a Yellow lab and I think they’ve decided she’s simply come back to us as a puppy.

jeffgoldblum · 13/08/2023 15:03

Aww 🥰, that's nice ! , mine all died of old age, now I've got the children, the dogs and two budgies .
I miss the cats but dh not keen on getting more ( he's the dog person)

I adopted a pregnant kitty from the street before we got married. I was not mentioning that she was pregnant but when he found out he said “You have to take her now!”

She had two kittens and we kept them. So we have a sweet little cat family. Well, not little. They are massive.

jeffgoldblum · 13/08/2023 15:31

Aww love cats! , well due to your influence, I have now cleaned the toilet and put oven racks it bag thingy with noxious gel ( all while fielding requests for juice and crisps from youngest!) but I've sat down again now!!! 😞

Afternoon, all. I've just had a good conversation with my friend who I met when we were both NQTs together in Mile End, 40 years ago. Our conversations largely go on about how education has changed. Our trips down memory lane we call our "old crone" conversations, which we find most satisfactory and therapeutic 😊

TheLightSideOfTheMoon · 13/08/2023 16:04

I have a massive weeping spot on my face.

I shouldn’t have squeezed it, I should’ve left it alone. Why do I never learn?

Also dreading work tomorrow. Month into new job and I’m not sure it’s for me.

jeffgoldblum · 13/08/2023 16:04

Sounds good @Maireas , I've been moaning to my 'mum' friend about the joy of kids and house cleaning, not as satisfying as yours to be fair but does cheer one up 👍

I’m trying to get to folding the laundry. The pup is going through the pre-nap extinction burst so it’s hard to pull away. She was just chewing a lamp cord.

I’m one of those annoying women whose husband does more than 50% of the household work if left unchecked. So can’t relax or he’ll do it all.

jeffgoldblum · 13/08/2023 16:06

Sorry @TheLightSideOfTheMoon , sounds crappy, I think we're all secret pickers!
The first month of any job is always the hardest, hold in there!

We like to slag off young men teachers who try to tell us how to do our jobs, as we rescue them from cock ups of their own making.

That’s sounds lovely @Maireas. I could use adult human conversations right now.

@TheLightSideOfTheMoon I’m incapable of leaving a spot alone. And give the job some time. It’s always tough settling in. My DH has been in his new job 6 months and finally feeling more comfortable. Seems more difficult the older we get.

AliceOlive · 13/08/2023 16:09

Mine has laundry going 24/7. I used to do mine weekly. Well, probably more like fortnightly. And I never put it away.

jeffgoldblum · 13/08/2023 16:10

Tell us more about your exciting adventures @AliceOlive , it always seems more exotic when it's from the US instead of grey U.K.
